Since the Tardis project is away being prototyped, I thought I'd start up a few other things while I waited. With Breaking Bad being over now, I'm left wanting for other shows. Dangit, nothing is as good anymore! Can't even get into The Walking Dead like I used to. So to get my Heisenberg fix I started modeling out the RV they used to cook in. Along the same lines of my previous work, this will of course be a fully transformable masterpiece scaled figured. But the scaling is something I wanted your guys thoughts on: I have a design in my head that uses the entire RV to transform, and keeps his robot form in scale with other masterpiece figures. But his alt mode is way too small. To get his RV mode to be in scale with the other figures he would have to split off a cab like Rodimus. Then I have a 'trailer' that can be a Cook Station for him or something, or even turn into armor. I'm not keen on that idea as that pretty much turns him into a parts former. So guys, which would you prefer? A solid figure that has his RV mode out of scale, or one that has everything in scale but requires a trailer?
I love this idea, and I love breaking bad. I know what you mean when you say it's hard to find anything else to watch after breaking bad. I think the second option with the trailer sounds better.
I say scale the alt to proper scale. Enlarge the bot. It's an original figure so who says that he will be too big? So the story should be after Walter whites body goes cold, his soul slips out of his body and is confronted by the all spark. Due to his transformation through the series it wishes him life and converts him to a spark and he is instantly transformed into the RV. Heisenberg lives!
I'd say no trailer so that it's cohesive, but I also have a feeling that in the engineering, you'll have to compromise a lot. Trailer would make for a better bot size ratio. And it would be handy for having a separate 'lab'. ^_^
Or you can have one half be White, while the back end be Jesse! That way you get your alt size and your "not too big" bot mode! Although I'd go with gas masked bot faces to keep them out of robo-face land.. maybe even goes as far as to have their color scheme be biosiut yellow.. to have them be cohesive.
Thanks for the comments everyone. One vote for trailer! Scaled in the proper size he would be twice as tall as MP1. I hadn't thought about a story... How about he just turns into a head master? Ohoh! Then he can be outside the RV in alt mode walking around! One vote no trailer! 30 votes for "whatever"! 2 votes no trailer! 2 votes trailer! And I make no compromises! Once you compromise once the designs expect it every time! 370 votes for... Wait! This is brilliant! Solves so many of the problems all in once swoop. So this is what I'm thinking now: Two robots in one RV, meaning both robot and alt forms are scaled proper. Both headmasters so they can still be figures outside the RV. One as Heisenberg and the other as Jessie in a gas mask. Thoughts?
Could you work a combined RV alt mode with Walt and Jesse bots, a la the Han and Chewbacca Millennium Falcon from the SW crossover line? If not, I vote trailer cook lab.
I actually think two robots with headmasters... And a combined alt mode as an RV would be pretty damn awesome and I would absolutely buy one just to paint and display!!
Awesome! I'm a huge Breaking Bad fan and can't wait to see how this turns out. You should make the robot mode-only parts yellow (like the chemical suits) and make the head look like the gas masks they wear when cooking. Edit: The idea for having it split into two robots is great. You should make different heads for both of them (trying to make them somewhat resemble Walt and Jesse) and have gas masks that can fold down over their faces.
And just when I thought surely you had used up all the awesomeness in your mind. I'm loving the idea of this and, while I think it seems like it'd complicate the design process, two individual Headmasters would be very, very cool. Definitely looking forward to seeing where this goes!
Thanks everyone for the ideas. Seems to be pretty unanimous now. Everyone thank Primus_feather for the idea! =) So the scale issues seem to be working themselves out. Right now he sits around 233mm long 80mm high and 70mm wide. Looking at the scale pictures (that's a rough MP10 blocked out), he might almost be be too big now... I'll have to see if I can't find some pictures of RVs next to trucks. I don't have an MP10 though, only MP1, so I could have the demo prime the wrong size. Anyone got one they check for me? Came up with around 70X70X150mm.
I LOVE BREAKING BAD ! I love the idea and with two bots and two headmasters it couldn't be any cooler !
I like the idea of a trailer that transforms into cook lab. While you're at it, how about a Mr. White and Jessie action figure to make it the ultimate human alliance set!
"This is my own private Autobot and I will not be harrassed... bitch!" Can't wait to see how it turns out.
