Didn't know there's a thread like this. Is it normal grimlocks top half is shaky or wobbly? When u hold him by the red waist in robot mode u can shake him and his upper body wobbles? Looks like in some video reviews its like that too

 

My Grimlock came without the head/tail gimmick. The head just spins freely.

I have MP Grimlock in waiter mode but I'm really thinking about getting MP-8X. The comic colors just look great on pics but the Ebay prizes are insane. Would it be worth it? Anybody with with both Grimlock versions care to share how he feels about them?

 

So what's the overall consensus on this figure's staying power?

Do we see HasTak rereleasing him at some point in the future to fit with the new vision for the MP line or is this THE definitive purchase for Grimlock?

 

I have both. I'm guessing MP-08X's price is due to a low production. That's the main reason his price is so high now as he was near 300 on release! Also, I'd say that his initial prices was already pushing it, so the current prices are definitely not worth it imo, but hey if you really like it then I guess try and find a decent deal.

I would say unknown. With so many characters being redone, there's always the possibility that this'll too. Most people have made peace with this being their definitive Grimlock as it is very accurate to the toy. I guess in saying that there's a chance they'll issue this with more accuracy to the cartoon, mainly his colours and size increase.

 

MP08X does look stunning, but I'm guessing he'll look very odd next to the other masterpieces. Nearly every colour on him is glossy\chromed. It looks great on its own but odd next to the others, with their flat colours and all that.

MP08 is re-issued by hasbro asia this summer, around 200 plus USD for him. At the moment, takara seems to be focusing more on car transformers and filling up their leader quota on the larger figures, so I'm not sure how high on the list an upgraded Grimlock will be.

 

Was that reissue confirmed? I'm fairly convinced that Toymall_Malaysia guy was a troll. He registered specifically to post that one message and then never posted anything again.

Being that I'm in Asia, I'd love for this to be a true rumor, but I've never seen anyone else confirm it as something that's going to happen.

Recently I've been watching the G1 episodes again and it's true that in some earlier episodes Grimlock is taller than Prime, but in others, it's the other way around. So MP-08 and MP-10 might be in better scale than everyone thinks. Look:

Does anyone have an extra MP Grimlock Sword that they'd be willing to sell me?

 

I finally got one of these bad boys and am absolutely stoked. Yes, he is shorter than MP10 but he looks great with the car-bots and I'm pretty sure I can make him some shoes to be taller.

I remember someone mentioning that you could make his torso long by not clicking it into place; this doesn't work very well as the weight of the upper body means it'll still collapse somewhat and provide only a small amount of added height. Almost unnoticeable.


On a sidenote: anyone know if Grimlock ever used his sword in toon? If so, what colour was it?

 

Doesn't he have a flaming sword or something in the episode where he serves drinks and goes with Daniel to another dimension with an evil wizard?

You should check out 21:17 in that same video. A lot different, the part you are referring to is a point of forced perspective.

 

Grimlock was bigger than Prime in most episodes. I've got the boxset and watched the episodes a million times.

There's a scene just before that where they're face to face and they're the same height. Grimlock marginally shorter.
