Hello everyone 

Here is a comission done for a friend that is a fan of the Masterpiece line.
He made the request from me at Botcon this year for a flat black MP Megatron
with matching box. Naturally I told him it won't be a problem but that was
before I got into taking this figure apart.

First off Megatron is a real work of art from a designer point of view.
So many parts that are so tightly interlocked together to make this guy
in to gun mode and robot mode. It really is a job to keep track of the way
it is put together and what screws and parts fit together.

The results are beautiful when finally finished but it will require you to take some notes and pictures to get him back together again.

As you can see in the pictures Megatron looks more evil and just really bad ass all in black. Flat black really lets you see his detailed panels and adds to
the darkness of Megatron. I added a black outline around Megatrons eyes to set them apart from the silver on his face. I feel that the outline help the over all face look more like Meagtron and that the Takara version is missing that element.

The custom box is done in the same style as the Mp series.
I tried to match the original as best I could and changed most of the pictures to reflect the new black figure.

Over all I'm happy with the project but don't think I will be taking on any Mp figures in the future.

The paint job's beautiful, but the box art really knocked it out of the park. The purple inner panels give him such an eerie look. I really like it.
One question- is he on tip-toe?

He might be I never transformed Megatron until I received him from my friend and thought that this was the way he was suspose to look. Am I off?  

 

Looking at the pictures I would have to say that Meagtron is on his tippie-toes 

 

MEAGTRON? I am loaded with whisky at the mo and this made me smile.
I read it as meager-tron and it made my evening.


EDIT; Yup IM drunk I forget to comment, black just makes this figure pop and makes it look awesome........especialy with the purple weapons.

 

He's just really excited to be in his new color scheme! I would be.

Really nice work, the details POP with that black as the main color. the box art is also stellar, very official looking and is a nice difference from the standard box art.

Sorry to say I didn't transform megatron
In to gun mode because it belongs to my friend
and because I just don't want to break it.
I've heard that megatron can be a pain to transform and after
Putting him back together I just don't want to deal with him
Any more.

Mostly the being drunk part! Sunday is the perfect day to open a new wine keg.  

Not a fan of this mold, but the paint job is great and makes it look awesome.

 

Stealth-Megs!   The darker eyes make all the difference in the world...and I never woulda guessed flat-black overall on Megs would look so good, very nice color-placement, not too much, not too little...just right! ...and I don't blame ya, I wouldn't wanna transform him either. Although I admire the thought and intricate & brilliant-engineering that goes into these masterpieces, the complexity sometimes just takes the joy right out of the experience.

 

This is slick... You could call this the Tyrant or Ultimate Evil Edition

Black Megatron looks great. Actually I think that's the 1st major mp-05 repaint I've seen anywhere! The eye lining is ace as well  

As for the feet transformation, you got it mostly right but the tops of the feet don't position up that high.
Seems a hell of a lot of people don't realise those top plates move up at all resulting in horrible looking flat feet and their megatrons falling over all the time. Just google mp-05 pics and check all the flat feet, it's ridiculous!

 

Amazing job! For me this makes total sense, wish Takara would have thought so too.
Anyway this repaint blew my mind, and now it is truly a Masterpiece!
