Compare Optimus Prime throughout all the Transformers cartoons. Fairly consistent - windows on chest, distinctive head, red with blue legs.

Now, look at Megatron. Or should I say "all the various Megatron designs".

Not sure if anyone has said this already (I don't want to read through the 19 pages   ) but is he supposed to be an Evangelion character???

It never ceases to amaze me how fast movie threads turn into hate slinging. The best part is that some of those same people will still go to the movie just to pick it apart and say "This movie is crap! I told you so!" or something to that effect.

It does get a bit weary to see both sides of the various camps come in here and say the same things over and over again. Both the haters and the lovers are gonna pick this movie apart so bad that NO ONE will be able to enjoy it when it comes out.  

I personally like Megatron. It embodies everything Megatron is supposed to be. Cold, ruthless, and evil. Just as all incarnations of Megatron have in past cartoons. Then again I never had a problem with outward appearances, just as long as they capture the characters personality.

 

He looks THRILLED to see us! I imagine him yelling "TA-DAAAAAA!" in that pic, like he just did a magic trick or something.

So.... the Re-design Murphy told us was coming (And was quite rude about).... was flattening his teeth?

 

The design still sucks. They just modified the face and gave him a new menacing pose, but the whole thing sucked to begin with and needed to be started again from scratch.

A few of my friends, who grew up with Transformers but arent really current "Transfans" finally saw the trailer. They were depressed. They felt what we felt months ago when the artwork started coming out.

Everyone I've talked to thinks this movie will flop.

 

Fosterlager, don' t take this the wrong way, but people are not going to fall in love with something that's supposed to be Megatron when he is CLEARLY NOT. I don't know, maybe it's that after having a semi-consistent reinforcement of what Megatron looks like from past incarnations (well after BM it gets kind of wierd, barring Energon Megs), we've developed expectations on who's who and what they look like.

Sorry, but like others have said, he has more in common with Alien than with any incarnation of Megatron that I know of. With the exception that he's silver and not black. That's about the only thing I can point out being Megatron. which is bad since color scheme alone shouldn't be the only identifiable marker, because it's a poor one at that.

There was a reference to the "classified" jet Megs turns into in this month's Empire magazine. Apparently they could only shoot it from certain angles.
