Megatron's hands still confuse me. It seems like the head has been mildly improved though.

 

My exact thoughts as well. I don't see anything really distinctive or special about the design that conveys him being the feared and powerful leader of the Decepticons. Plus, the hands and crappy spindly claw thing is somewhat cliche-ish. But, I guess 7/4/07 will change my mind. Just another 6 months to go.

 

Grimbot, didn't notice you migrated to this board from the Don Murphy board. Friendly suggestion since I've seen you on his board as well, this board doesn't take as kindly to unkind comments aimed at posters.

I think Megatron looks great. I at least definitely see the Megatron resemblance in him. He may not have the look of a "normal" transformer as some have stated, but it IS a lot harder to judge alien vehicle kibble when we don't have a great idea what the alien vehicle looks like.

And, yes, I would think robot upon first looking at that. Not an EARTH robot, but definitely a mechanical being. I REALLY hope to hear Welker's voice coming out of this.

Unfortunately, those hands look totally impractical for any use, either manipulation, or as weapons. And, he looks like he could be fucked up by one human with a crow bar. (as do many of the movie bots)

Well, first a human has to get close enough to F him up.

And consider that a human's probably about as tall as half his finger. Don't see a crowbar doing much damage after Megatron's stepped on him.

As far as the design goes, if Bay or Hasbro thinks that looks more "realistic" than say Megs as a tank, then they are in serious need of some glasses. That looks NOTHING like a Transformer and resembles a generic movie bot. I really don't see any likeness to any version of Megatron. It just looks like a mass of scrap metal stuck together with a razor mouthed head. I think who-ever said they didn't have the cash left to redo him in another form hit the nail on the head (or maybe they broke Megatron with the hammer and this was what was left???). It's also another example of Bay's pathetic attempt to beat around the bush b/c I remember him saying something about the original design that we saw was pretty far off from what it currently was and many modifications had been made. I really just don't see the big difference...

Yes those hand things do bother me as well. Considering he doesn't have a earth mode you would think that would give them more freedom with his bot mode. What use are those little bittyy fingers going to have during a battle. There are many things with this design that could be changed but that is one of the biggest I see. It just looks silly.

 

his head in that shot reminds me of the alien queen, or onslaught from marvel (phase 2 of course   I mean look at my avatar)

he looks pretty bad ass... it's just soooo radically different from "megatron". Alas  

Yeah and his hands/arms look impractical. we'll see. Hasbro or that guy way back suggested he still has a big cannon.... or something to make up for it....

 

Do you think he uses his funny hands to extract sparks? I remember hearing something about him eating sparks of those he kills. Is this true?
