Do you or anyone know this for a fact? Has the Club actually formally communicated this?

 

ugh. once again harmony gold acting like the patent trolls they are. I hope one day someone takes the robotech rights away from them for good. I mean sure, they served their purpose bringing us robotech in the 80s. but other than a few notable uses of the license in the past decade, all they've done is troll the rights. as far as i'm concerned, all theyre good for is the impeding of the release of up to date macross in America. I hope one day harmony gold's entire staff and investors meet in one place and a meteor hits.

shame on you Hasbro for giving in to them.

 

Dang. I was hoping Hasbro would bury Harmony Gold once and for all...

 

While I don't think there was a public announcement, I'm pretty sure that (besides it being obvious) someone did in fact call them, got that confirmed over the phone, and then communicated that fact to the fandom.

 

As stated already, we don't know that Hasbro gave in to them. All we know is that the case has been dropped, and won't ever come to court again. The reasons why it was dropped will remain a mystery, but to assume that it could only have happened because Hasbro gave HG anything is simply mistaken.

 

The suit was due to the use of the G1 Jetfire artwork used with the SDCC set. The G1 Jetfire artwork the same design as the Robotech Veritech/Macross Valkyrie.

HG does not own the Jetfire deco. There never was a Veritech using that deco.



FunPub might have screwed themselves depending how the suit was settled. We don't know what the terms were but it might have been that no more of these can be sold buy Hasbro or affiliates (FunPub is affiliated with Hasbro). If so, FunPub paid $$$ for the sets hoping to sell for a little profit but now they can't sell them (at least through the club)

 

FunPub has nothing to do with any of this. They were going to sell these before the idea of a suit ever came about.

 

FunPub, due to being linked with Hasbro will probably be required to do whatever the ruling says. If part of the settlement is Hasbro cannot sell the SDCC set anymore, FunPub will likely not be able to sell them through the club. If not, why haven't they had the lottery yet.

 

And yet again, Harmony Gold makes a blatant cash grab and gets exactly what they wanted.

 

then in an act of awsomeness, Hasbro hired their staff to play the original Super Dimensional Fortress Macross anime theme song at the court via using one of their pimped car stereos at full to the max volume!

 

Harmony Gold probably just wanted a Jetfire but couldn't take their mom's station wagon to ComiCon...

Since nobody had linked to an announcement, I didn't know; wasn't being snide. Sometimes, especially where legalities are concerned, the "obvious" course of action is the least probable. The Club was pretty good about communicating for awhile. Might have been/be a gag order preventing any kind of public announcement, too.
