Well spotted, I knew there was something vaguely familiar about the design.

Tons of kibble? You mean the wheels on the legs and the wheels on the back? BURN IT AT THE STAKE!/sarcasm.

It doesn't matter how the chest is formed, most prime figures chest isn't formed through transformation and they turn out great.

plus his back pack is hardly tons, yes its a bit of an eye sore but it could be far worse, plus it look like some of it forms hip and shoulder armour.

I think some people need to chill out, its a different prime to what we are used to, yes, but until we get this thing in hand, we can't really say "its a shellformer, burn it" ¬_¬

He has a back pack and wheels on the lower legs, hardly loads of kibble really, the shoulder armour and skirt look like they are formed from the back pack, possibly meaning they are optional :p

I do agree, hardly anything from the vehicle is incorporated, but that's not a bad thing, it would of been nice to have the windows on his chest, but im all for change.

Hand painted or not, if this is anything to go by, im looking forward to it. I'm not going to go up in arms over some pictures.

The concept design is not so bad. I just don't like his chest being completely red.

It's ok I guess, something looks off, but I can't put my finger on what...

Also I read the title as "Age of Exhibition". :lol

I miss his cab windows chest. Optimus just isn't Optimus without his transclearant moobs in bot mode.

Hmmm...needs some more panels for the arms and legs. They are too "open" and skinny for my taste. Torso and the head are perfect though! And I love the updated G1 blaster.

Looks like an ok figure. He does end up with a mess of junk on his back. If that couldive folded up a tad more, it might have looked a lot better.

Interesting seeing them go with no chest windows for this version of Prime. Not the first time that's been a thing, though. It's kind of like a movie-verse version of Armada Prime.

I think that is a bad thing. It's one of the key criteria for me when assessing a design. Creatively reconfiguring the vehiclemode is a major part of what makes the best TF designs so good. I don't find it anywhere near as impressive and satisfying if they ignore all that and produce a robot design made up of imaginary shapes and contrived details that magically turns into a truck. (I'm talking about the actual movie design rather than the toy here). It's frustrating when they go with a design that requires extensive cheating to work in toy form.

I can understand losing the chest windows. It's probably the clearest way to make a break from the previous design while still having a recognisable Optimus. On DOTM they changed the abs, and I'm sure most people didn't notice at all. I think the windows are iconic, but they can change something like that when the rest of the iconography is in place. People should notice the difference, but they'll know who it is.

The Machine Wars Optimus had no windows on his chest either though to be fair he's a repaint of G1 Thunderclash from what I've heard.

I'm going to pass on all movie toys unless the dinobots and sunticons are worth picking up.
