that's exactly what you're saying...people who aren't artists, aren't allowed to criticize 'art', people who aren't writers aren't allowed to criticize twilight, and so on.

He did, but, if I remember correctly, the fourth-wall breaking & slapstick humour that made Deadpool become hugely popular came later. I think he basically just started out as a Deathstroke knockoff.

Whenever Rob gets brought up I feel sorry for all the actual artists who can't get work. Yay being friendly over talented (sarcasm).

It's really not that bad. The only thing I see strange about it is the arm. I'm not saying Liefeld is the greatest artist in the world (and I can certainly understand why people don't like his work) , but I think some people go a little bit overboard with the comments, like it's awesome to say "Liefeld sucks!".

When I saw that website about Rob Liefeld's worst drawings, some of them don't look that bad either. His drawings don't hold good upon closer inspection

Actually I have artwork that is superior to his. I used to be a sci-fi/fantasy airbrush artist. But I quit because I hate working with paint & the computers took over. But yeah, I'm a lot better than this guy. Just don't care about art anymore. I used to love it when I was younger but now I hate it. No, I despise it!

Anyone else notice the inside joke with Arcee in the picture? She takes the place of Dana Moonstar in the New Mutants cover. She was a valkyrie. The old convention exclusive Arcee toy had a function of "Valkyrie". Geek reference or chance?

I get it's an homage... but two questions:
    1) First Aid... DAFUQ!?
    2) Why was Angel sporting a Bazooka in the original comic!?

    Otherwise it's an interesting homage.

    ...the horror... THE HORROR.

Really, that looks like some horrible Arcee Fan Art where they inexplicably give her a giant booty. OH wait... this is EXCACTLY like this garbage. Galvatron's no better either.

And yet he has... I mean really... he made a living off this... I mean from the late 80s to the just last year... he's been jumping around Marvel, DC, and Image, which he co-founded apparently....

Think folks would realize it soon enough... the cover directly homages a much older cover of his... and then the style and mis-proportions would make it a strong tell.

Not surprised someone would link this. Was thinking of it myself, but I scrolled through some pages. :lolol

Because "Art." I mean early this year someone "painted" a giant blue canvas with a splotchy white line down the center... and guess what... got a couple million for it.

Find the right audience and your art goes much farther. Can't find an audience? Doesn't matter if you have DaVinci level skill... no one likes/knows it? Starve.

Funny enough he still avoids them when he can too. I googled some recent work... and while it definitely looks better than the 90s stuff... still plenty of anatomy issues that are well... yea...

Though TBH I still think this is one of his worst:

Remove the belt and that waist line is thinner than her neck. Not to mention how awkward that torso is. But hey... good reason his art has appeal... for women, giant boobs and ass shots. Can't go wrong with that in comics and games. For men... good old power fantasy of huge rippling musculature. Disregard how impossible the proportions are... Honestly I'd say that's why his work has endured.

Pretty much. Funny enough though despite the blatant rip-off... DC had no qualms hiring him recently to work on Deathstroke too.

Ah yes, the classic Liefeldian "horrific car accident spinal disfigurement" female.

Heh, Prime's tiny fingers (forgot the thumb this time too).

But at least he didn't have to draw someone's feet. :D

Lets be fair here. This isn't THE worst Transformers cover ever. I think those Heart of Darkness covers (and the comic itself) by Ulises Farinas were worse than this. And Chee is at least as bad as this. It IS pretty horrible though.

Whoa, you're comparing Chee to Liefeld? I'm not a huge fan of Chee's Transformers work either, but what?

At least it's not pat lee.

I won't lie. Image, Rob and Todd specifically, is what inspired me to draw comics.

I think some of his stuff is aweful but when it's not i think it's awesome. Either you love it or hate it.

Do I think I could draw a better cover? You bet ya. But I think we can all say that we've seen worse.

I know it's a gag or whatever, but that cover is sickening.

I just Threw-up my Subway I ate earlier.

Thanks Liefeld for your nausea inducing contribution to this franchise.

Chee IS pretty bad. His women look like men. Faces are terrible. It's not just the Transformers themselves. That Bumblebee mini was almost painful to look at.

Damn, at some point I had that New Mutants signed by him and Todd. Not sure where the hell I met him to get it signed.

Chee's art for SL: Thundercracker is definitely an improvement over his earlier work. It's not up there with the some of the more regular IDW artists, but it's definitely way nicer to look at. I'd say has has a Marvel Transformers-y feel to it. I think the lack of that weird fuzzy watercolouring effect goes a long way.

It's not utterly terrible, but there is something immediately 'off' about it. And then as you look at it for a little longer your eyes get drawn to things that just seem like rookie mistakes.

The one that gets me is his palm seems to wrap around over the gun handle and then his fingers rest on the extra curved palm piece. How does he make a fist if his palm is like that?

I can understand that feeling. I used to design posters and adverts for bands and local events and it quickly turned into that thing where the hobby I used to enjoy became a chore of work that I hated. I used to crank out dozens of pictures a day but now I think I've drawn maybe just three things in the last couple of years. Drawing for a living soured me on drawing for a hobby.

At least Transformers are immune to Youngblood's Disease.
