Fantastic news! And absolutely fantastic for Nick getting a gig at Marvel to draw a character he loves. While I hope this doesn't mean we lose him on the TF books forever, I hope he gets lots of big titles to eventually work on. He deserves it!

 

I hope Death's Head looks like the original. I don't like the 2.0, 3.0 and recent redesigns of him.

 

It's DH II they're using (according to that article).

 

Eh. At least Nick Roche will make him look better than he used to, I'll imagine.

Why Death's Head II? For the toy? The redesign they're using in the comics right now is perfect.

Hell, I was hoping the reason why we hadn't heard anything about that Death's Head II toy was because it was canceled in favor of one based off the redesign.

Guess I was wrong. :/

The toy they previewed for the MU line was DH 1 so this has nothin to do with that, whether it's still coming or not.

No, there's a big Marvel UK 90s revival attempt coming that Marvel has talked about a couple times and DH2 was THE core 90s Marvel UK series/Character. So that's the why right there.

That said pretty much everyone loves DH1 WAY more. Maybe Marvel will realize that and incorporate more of him into DH2?

Even if not DH1 just had a LONG run as a supporting character in Iron Man where he really got to shine as his original self. He will be back.

-ZacWilliam, the nice thing about them being time/dimension hoppers is that both can be around indefinatly. I'll buy this but I'd care WAY more for DH1.

 

Too bad it's not the original Death's Head, still I might get it. I'm a bit curious about how it will look wit Roche's art. I hope he will be back on some more Transformers goodness Before long though.

oh no! no love for dhII? i think you should all embrace the dhII   i love the original deaths head but deaths headII was such a big improvement whilst retaining a lot of what made me fall for the original character.. ( because he is essentially still the same character as deaths head took full control over the bot Minion )..

I like them both in different ways.

DH2 had a great badass "realistic" visual design and was fairly fun as 90s (admitedly dime a dozen) grim and gritty badasses went. His first miniseries was a fun time travel origin that I have a lot of nostalgia for. I'm not entirely sad to see him again.

BUT, that said, the original Death's Head also has a great iconic design in a more cartoon/comic book style, AND he was WAAAY more fun and had a TON more quirky, memorable personality. DH2 is 95% generic 1990s comic book bad@$$, where as The Original is really his own unique character with memorable unique quirks of behavior, speech and personality that make him stand out.

I'm glad DH got a good run in Iron Man this year so I don't really have to worry about him being forgotten for 2. And there's still the possibility that the Marvel U DH figure they previewed will make it out somewhere.


-ZacWilliam, if the Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy film does well I could see either DH making an appearance in a sequel...

Ok now where is my Marvel Legends Death's Head toy.

 

It was a Marvel Universe 3 3/4 Death's Head they previewed and showed the design for at a Con. I'm hoping maybe they shuffle it into the Iron Man line since MU seems to be ending and he was just a co star in Iron man for a year or so.


-ZacWilliam, I mean I'd take a Legends figure too if they make one, happily, but it was the MU figure that was announced as coming soon so that has the odds...

 

Congrats Nick! Am curious, why they aren't using the Death's Head that is featured in the current Iron Man series.

Too bad the writing will probably suck...IIRC, that Lanning guy was one of the writers on Heart of Darkness. If that pile of poo was at all representative of his writing ability, then this comic will be worth buying for art only.
