Mine just landed at the dreaded New York ICS. The figure looks better everytime. I am thinking of getting the MMC one as well.

I wonder if Maketoys' decision to release it as an exclusive through their website is because the main robot is soooo similar to RTS G2 Laser Optimus Prime... I mean, the line there is not much gray or blurry in terms of infringement of Hasbro's property... Even for me, a person who likes 3P products, they seem to have gone... too far? Maybe? I wonder if online stores like BBTS will ever agree to sell it.

there's some clearance/tolerance issues that make doin things kinda tough. this guy is super tight, but totally awesomes

and geez. its taken me like half an hour to put the orange bits into just one wing @__@

 

Managed to get someone to get me this for Christmas-i hope he'll be worth the wait ^_^

 

On the super tight bits, would it help to sand or shave the bits to make the connection less tight or is it something that is not fixable with a little elbow grease?

 

i did a little sanding on the orange bits to make them fit, but as for the figure itself? i dunno. Id say its up to you. It all works and all of that just some of its a bit tight. im not sure where to even sand to help with any of the difficult bits on mine but... yeah. your mileage may vary!

 

Whew...the figure is awesome. I like the new base figure a lot more than I thought. However, the amber bits were nothing but pain and nightmares covered in fire ants. They look amazing once installed but getting them installed was one of my most frustrating/stressful transformer experiences I have ever had. That could be because the very first piece (foot piece) I tried to install cracked in two before it even came close to fitting. So be prepared to sand some of these pieces. I guess I will need to write an email to MT to see if they can send me a replacement part.  

 

Actually, I meant without the backpack shoulder parts moved like that. I mean like in Josh's photo, but with the wings pointing down. The way he looks in the comic, with the shoulders facing out, in forward. I don't like the way that looks. Essentially, this:

 

Mine arrived today. Figure is tight, and not smooth in the transformation. The amber bits are tough to put in. I used a hobby xacto to trim them to get them install.

Overall. I think it's a good purchase. I may get one of the redecos or the one from MMC
