That was my point. Refusing to sell them in advance maximises sales (add ons plus other club store stuffs).

Following that logic if the 7th is not revealed its either because its not amazing and hope the mystery factor will draw in more people than actually revealing it or they deliberately want people to miss out on something amazing now, so that next year people will subscribe just to avoid possibly missing again.

    agreed, 100% that's a great idea.

that makes sense. and if they sold them all before hand, and they sold out, they'd have a bunch of people pissed off, and they'd have to do even more work on the front end to get everyones stuff all combined together. opening a case, pulling out a box and handing that to a customer is far easier.

it's back now, with Rewind as the 4th figure, though I'm still not counting out that Chromedome could be the bonus figure...

Still no new announcement though, but i expect it in the next hour or two.

I don't dispute that portion, but you said "they dont want us paying for something they haven't announced," and went from there to suggest the inconsistency of the custom figure. I'm saying that (although I can't really be bothered to find the quote right now) Pete's come right out and said at one point that it was indeed because they want folks to have to come to the club store.

They're a bit late, but here are pages 1 and 2 of their 7 page preview for the TFCC series 2 figures.

So Fisitron doesn't looks like the colours are set that way, so that puts it on the not interested pile with Barricade. Shame as its the one that most interested me to start with, but its going to be cheaper and more rewarding to repaint a Roadbuster.

Treadshots decent but not blowing me away. Rewind I dont dislike but the mould doesnt really work for me and without at least a mock up of Chromedome he doesnt really factor into the decision.

Yes and again thats was my point at the top of the first relevant post with FP I assume they opt for the cash grab in any given instance. Whether that is good or bad depends on your point of view, but does mean its not always in the best interest of us buyers.

Add ons get people through the club store making more money. But creates a second largely unnecessary line that has to be endured and hated by attendees who could be elsewhere having fun.

Custom class figure can be preregistered because anyone laying down money on it can be assumed will already go through the club store for add ons. And since it comes in at nearly twice the cost of a deluxe from the add on packs selling blind is better than risking low interest if it was announced ahead of time or had to be bought along with the add ons.

And for all the other cases where they announce a figure or dont I'm sure the bottom line is which will make the most money for them, they are a business thats fine and with the convention I go for the convention not hte toys so I dont mind so much , but with the sub all there is are the toys. If the seventh sub figure is not revealed, I don't expect it will the the best of the set, if it was guaranteed to boost sales then it would be announced.

I've said it before, they lost any trust I had in them during their promotion of the Hall of Fame in 2011. Now I wont just take their word on anything. If something is that good show me and let me decide, dont show me and I'll assume they dont have faith in it to sell itself.

I could be wrong, but its the assumption I will work on. If the figure isnt announced I'll assume its not better than anything that has been and will treat it as such. Meaning FP have one more reveal to convince me to give them money or to announce a lower than last year price which is the most likely way to get me to buy whats been revealed so far.

Or.... They just like doing stuff like this. They like having mysteries, having surprises, trying to put an extra bit of "fun" into collecting.

Brian Savage was/is a Joe collector from a young age, I think he just likes to do things for the "fun" of collecting. The convention "free gift" for attendees was done for Joe-Cons long before Botcons, and it was always a surprise/mystery, but one that you do basically pay for ahead of time.

The Joe subs and this second version of the TF sub have a mystery bonus figure.

These subs also are always shipped out in "surprise", "random" order. Is there some benefit, any kind of theory on how sending figures out in surprise order would increase or decrease sales? No? It's just for "shits & giggles"? Seems like it.

So I think the prime motivation for having a mystery figure is likewise. To add an experience of surprise and unknown to collecting that we don't get as much anymore. Unfortunately for some completists, type-A, control freaks, this is more upsetting than it is fun. C'mon... let go... have fun... "Why so serious?" It's just toys! Toys are meant for fun!

Since the toys all end up getting all shipped to FP at once, it's likely to get leaked from stolen samples before anyone gets one.

I want a Classics pre beast Heinlad now...

also, just in from the club "FYI... We have given ZERO hints to the 6th TFSS 2.0 figure."

so, who knows what the last figure is... and they keep saying 6th, though we've only seen 4, which means Chromedome has to be the 5th... which means I have no idea what the bonus figure could be... I'm still hoping for Fastlane and Cloudraker, as unlikely as that appears to be...

It's possible, but leaks for FunPub toys have become the exception, rather than the rule, in recent times.

I think if a leak were to happen, it would have to occur before any of the toys were in FunPub's hands. Once FunPub has them (presumably many months before Mystery Figure Seven is shipped out), they should have little difficulty keeping the figure a secret.

Yeah it could be, I said I could be wrong. Neither of us is Brian Savage so who knows.

As I said in convention terms an added figure is fun because I'm going to an event. The amount beyond the convention I have to spend means that no matter how good or bad an attendee figure is it wouldnt swing my decision to go or not. So I like having it be a mystery. Same with the add ons, I am not saying we should know them in advance I enjoy finding out later or better at the show, but I know I'm getting the full set so having to queue twice just so I hopefully spend a bit extra at the club booth is an annoyance that wastes hours of my holiday. The surprise/mystery is fine, the part were FP waste my time is not.

Not really, I just said that if a financial gain can be made FP seem to do it, I wasnt even making a judgement (aside from the club store line which does really bug me) though if you really want me to make a case for it okay. It somewhat is preventing people looking at the schedule before buying and deciding they want the first two only so will pay by instalment and cancel the sub after the first two arrived.

Or its just a little frustrating if like me you are very much on the fence about whether the set is worth it or not. I'm trying to decide if a series of mock up will live up to their potential or not, if I think they will and the price is right I'm just about on the buying side, If I aren't so sure then I'm edging towards not. Then theres Chromedome that I really cant picture at all, I would love it if it works, but I dont know. So that 14% of my spend going on the 7th figure that I have no idea of at all is frustating as it could be the one that makes the choice easy or not, but not knowing doesnt cause me much fun.

What would have been fun was for them not to announce the figure at all and it just arrive next year. Sure that might have adversely affected sale with people working out the value of the set based on one fewer figures and it only works the one time, but having a completely unexpected toy arrive in the post would be amazing even if it wa only a fourth micron.

See, I don't mind mysteries and surprises when I'm buying a $4.00 blindpacked Kreon. When i'm throwing down $350 on exclusives, mysteries and surprises lose their appeal.

Does that make me a type-A control freak? Hey, I'll wear that hat. I maintain that when that much money is on the line, I don't want any surprises, pleasant or otherwise. I want to know exactly what I'm paying for before the money leaves my wallet.

I would MUCH rather have Fastlane and Cloudraker than Eject, but I'm not expecting it. Besides, they said they looked at the 6 and said the 7th was a no-brainer. The clones would be planned ahead of time.

Also the "FYI... We have given ZERO hints to the 6th TFSS 2.0 figure."

Is that a hint in itself? Any characters that have anything to do with Zero? I thought we DID get some kind of hint in that it's a new take but not new character or something...

I definitely see that side of it, and probably agree with you. I'm not ordering the sub because, given the pricetag, not enough in it appeals to me.

But, also Bogatan... relax on the "analysis" ... my point is that I think all the mystery stuff is done with the main motivation of "fun". End of story. I was bringing up multiple examples of how what FunPub does could be motivated by that. I wasn't making any point by point response to things you had said earlier.

Whether people like it or not, of course some won't, but some will. But it doesn't change my theory that that is the purpose of the "mysteries".... total number of sales increases or decreases be damned.
