Actually I'd say you're best sticking with RD Shining. I watched a video review for HGFC Shining, and apparently it falls apart easily since it parts-forms to hyper mode. And without painting the hyper mode parts, it really looks boring. (and totally inaccurate) Plus, the RD is just so much more posable. HGFC God honestly looks good however, despite needing the chest thing painted. (and panel-lining for the head to not be super white)

Yeah Gouf Custom is awesome, and I'm not even a big fan of Zaku-ish designs. It's almost as cool looking as it actually was in the show. (thing was a juggernaut, and not in the cheap OP way, the pilot was just super experienced and tactical) However I do kinda want this kit, but the shipping is somehow more for it and Shining than for what Shining and God would cost. (it'd be over $60 all said and done, might as well just wait for God)

That's rough. (PMs are full so I'm just answering you here and won't mention any specifics) But hey if that's the only way they can find self-worth.

BTW, Remember how I said RGs are like mini MGs? Well Bandai actually did essentially upscale a RG to an MG, add in a ton of extra features, and it's in-stock on HLJ. I am SORELY tempted.

They are, and they're pretty sweet. Pretty much the only difference is RGs go for a realistic and more detailes look with complex inner frames. HGs tend to be more about cartoon/design accuracy and ease of construction. They're like the deluxes of Gundam models. RGs are basically mini Master Grades.

Fucking hell I missed a shift call-in and my cat was sick so that was $600 to tell us he's got a plugged ass and the only shift I've got this week is a measly .75 on Friday. :(

But nah dude I'm happy for you. I'd deffinitely give the HG's a try, but depending on what you want I don't know if they'd replace RD's. They're a little old, and while they're still sculpted great, they lack the level of colour seperation modern kits have. Like God Gundam's yellow chest thing is just solid blue, Shining's blue leg panels are red with a blue sticker, and shining's gold parts are all grey. Then again, they're $12 and $15 against like $30-40 RD's, so those details are worth the effort to paint if you're strapped for cash. (still waiting on my MG God Gundam. ONE DAY...) You could always look up video reviews of course to make up your mind.

Funny you mention RG RX-178 MKII, as I was looking at it myself. RG's are pretty intense, and I love the dark blue.
