    Dec 29, 1997 (Age: 22)
I began collecting Transformers on Christmas Eve 2003. My first figures were Armada Smokescreen and "Bendy" Prime. As a result, my childhood was defined by the Unicron Trilogy and I still have a lot of those old toys that I played with as a kid. I don't know if I'll ever have the heart to sell them off.

After a bit of a dry spell when Cybertron was moved to cable TV I fell back into collecting in 2007 with the Michael Bay movies. Say what you will about the live action movies but Bay helped bring fans (new and old) back into the franchise and I am truly grateful for that. The movies reinvigorated my love for Transformers and I will always be sentimental for the first three movies.

Fast forward to now where I'm a college student and trying to balance paying for school and still enjoying this franchise. Money is tight fairly often so I pick my purchases carefully but I am always keeping up to date on what's new and coming down the pipeline. Most of my focus right now is on the IDW comics and finding proper representations of them for my collection.

Recently, I've noticed a lot of members on here getting on each other's cases for what they're collecting. In thinking about my own collecting the most important thing for me is that I collect what I WANT. At the end of the day, my collection is for me and me only. As long as I'm buying figures that make me happy, that's all I'm concerned about. I use that same thought process to everyone else on the boards. It doesn't matter if you collect official, 3rd Party, or KOs. It makes no difference to me as long as you are buying what you want.

For all of us, this hobby is meant to be fun and a way for us to "escape" from the real world. As long as we all have fun while collecting what we love, I don't see why we can't all get along.

    Thanks for reading.
