It's not bad. Not great, but not bad. Can't say it's grabbed hold of my interest like MTMTE #1, but I'm willing to give it a go.
The licensor/licensee business model is taught in introductory business classes at the community college level. Anyone who thinks that you're being a conspiracy theorist for holding the position you do has no idea what they're talking about.
I think the common understanding of licensing is that you make a popular thing, and then sell the rights to use that popular thing and forget about it. You can do it that way, but not many people with sense do that. I'm not going to say I'm an industry insider, but I know enough to understand that's usually not how it works.
Just saw your post, comparing Megs to Joshua Graham... I'd never noticed that before, but damn, dude, that's spot on!
Haha. If anything, Megatron could borrow more story beats from old Graham if you ask me. It's always how I saw IDW Megatron.
Innit tho. The mileage they could've got out of a character trying to make amends, in a universe that justifiably hates him... But no, have some empathy cobblers instead. I wouldn't mind, but it didn't even close the character arc of him giving up tyranny.
I want to take the last few pages of dark cybertron and post them as links in the thread. But I think I got my point across.
I was happy they finally made Shockwave a legitimate threat and not the wiener he was in the G1 show or the not-very-logical (almost angry) Marvel comic Shockwave, but I definitely feel Dark Cybertron punked out at the end.
Oh absolutely. Shockwave was actually a threat. A threat that, devoid of any emotions, could justify horrendous acts. It was really cool. It's a shame it was squandered with his death.
More or less. I try not to think too hard about it. There's not a whole lot of people here that engage in any kind of literary deconstruction through no fault of their own. I'm usually just happy that I don't get "OMG OVERLORD IS COOL" or some angry weirdo that explains to me why [Segment of the Transformer Franchise] touched them improperly.
