I can't remember if you're UK-based or not, but we have a similar situation here with Labour Party politics - the trouble is that there's so much suspicion and bad blood that people jump very quickly to the conclusion that you're one of 'them' (ie. the people at the extreme opposite end of the debate). You can go in with a nuanced point and find that people on both 'sides' respond like you're the enemy.

I'm in the states, right outside of DC. It's pretty much the same situation. You're exactly right. Nuance is dying. and the extremes at both ends are killing it.

Yeah, that's an understandable complaint. When you put it this way, I can't really quibble. My resistance is more to the general idea that Roberts doesn't care about quality because he's spending too much time with progressive politics. It seems clear to me that Roberts' flaws would be the same whatever his politics.

You're not wrong. I like seeing people disagreeing with me because it give me an insight that I wouldn't necessarily have otherwise.
