In their new interview with Generation 1 voice actor Michael Bell (voice of Scrapper, Prowl, Swoop, Sideswipe and many others), the Moonbase 2 has unearthed the first pieces of definite news about the upcoming Transformers cartoon!

*Sue Blue is casting, so that means she's probably directing!
*Bell auditioned for Ratchet, and also a (presumably human) character named "General Fowler"
*David Sobolov (BW Depth Charge) has also auditioned!

Bell also mentioned a new G.I. Joe series that will run for 26 episodes (perhaps that means Transformers will run that long as well), and that he auditioned for General Hawk.

 

Ah, David Sobolov voiced Movie Brawl in the video games, right? Could definitely see him playing another brutish character. And I think Bell's voice could fit Ratchet for sure.

Sobolov was also in Modern Warfare, playing Lieutenant Vasquez, the Marine commander.

 

This all sounds very promising!   Susan Blu did a great job with both directing and acting, as did David Sobolov!   Both of them got to play great characters, and I'm always thrilled to hear whenever people involved with Beast Wars come back to do more work on the Transformers! I'm also very happy to hear that Michael Bell might have a part: I've always liked his characters, especially Swoop!   Sideswipe's also one of my favorites too!  

It's also interesting to heart that there will be a new cartoon, especially since the new game might also be getting toys. I wonder if the two will be related, or if they'll be separate. I do hope that this new cartoon isn't cut short before it's had a chance to finish it's entire storyline.

 

General Fowler sounds like a human name which leads me to believe the series will NOT be related to the new "War for Cybertron" game.

 

You do have a point, I did not consider that.   I suppose that's there's nothing to do but think about the information we currently have until more becomes available. Hopefully, it will be soon!  

 

Maybe General Fowler is a TF who has a turkey beast mode?

Just remember guys, if they are casting now, then the show is still more than a year to 18 months from coming.

First tidbits on GI Joe resolute came from casting news...more than a year before Hasbro even showed the concept. And it was still another year from airing.

All said, any new cartoon probably won't hit until after TF 3

After having Corey Burton as Ratchet, I'd really like to hear what Michael Bell's take would sound like. It'd probably have a Don Messick-vibe to it... assuming the reading for the audition wasn't asking for something completely different from the G1 version of the character.
