Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)

Revenge of the Fallen is now at $760 million worldwide.

What does this mean? It means it has just barely surpassed the lifetime (theatrical) profits of the first Movie. The first film took in $708 million worldwide, but cost $50 million less to make ($150 million production budget for movie 1, $200 million for movie 2).

Keep in mind that this is only after 1 month of release for Revenge of the Fallen vs the entire lifetime of the first film.

Here's the data from movie 1: Transformers

And the sequel: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen

Lifetime profits of the 1st film? Is this accurate? The 1st film is still making money via DVD sales/rentals as well as some for the games so basically its not the end of the profit for the 1st movie. Pretty soon there will be a DVD collection of this featuring TF1 & TF2 so the money making machine goes on and on and on.

    Ebay:
BoxOffice mojo shows numbers for theatrical revenue, this was what the article was in reference to.

I have added (theatrical) to clear up any confusion.

It's not likely. It will probably top out around $850 million ($400m domestic/$450m international). Still, a $150m increase in box office on a $50m increase in budget is a nice accomplishment.

Chances Bay doesn't get his year off? I'm guessing those chances grow smaller every day. If that wasn't just a ploy to get a bigger cut on round three to begin with.

    I m helping im helping :)

Id have to say love or hate rotf its always nice to see Transformers makes so much money in a movie format.

It would be awesome if they made TF movies forever and using differant continuities, generations and definately directors :)

Right now, Optimus Prime is on a beach in the Caribbean, drinking liquid gold out of a diamond goblet, with rabid fem-bots, minus their torso-plates, bidding to his every wish.
