Via Chefatron on YouTube we have a set of in-hand images the Transformers Legacy Wave 2 Voyager Soundwave.

Legacy Soundwave is a re-release of the Siege Soundwave mold but without the battle damage paint apps. This new "clean" Soundwave looks almost identical to the original Siege mold but showing a slightly darker gray and blue plastic and a more clear and shiny yellow plastic piece for his light piping effect. We have good comparison shots of the Legacy and Siege releases side by side. It's good to notice that he doesn't come with any cassette-bot partner as it was with the Siege version.

 

Looks much better without the battle-damaged deco.

I'd love to see this sort of treatment for Soundblaster, I think the black, grey and red deco would absolutely shine without a bunch of silver crud all over it. Still wish it were the Netflix version though (Yeah yeah, they explained why they can't just do that).

 

Hard to tell from the video but I wonder how close the forearms are on this to the Earthrise one, and if it would look good to swap them onto Earthrise to give him the red stripe near the wrist.

 

I'm surprised, I actually think this might look better than NF Soundwave. The alt modes and cleaner greebles make enough of a difference for me to still prefer NF overall, but I'm impressed with how much removing the battle damage improves this version.

 

It may be the lighting in the pictures, but the difference in color between the greys seems pretty negligible. I did a similar thing with a regular Siege Soundwave and the Netflix figure and it looks perfectly fine, the mold is exactly the same so there's no issues with transformation.

 

Absolutely adore the original siege release, I'm glad more people will be able to pick it up. Also I think it's hilarious how he mistransformed both of his real alt modes in the pics lol

 

I kinda still want the battle damage version . The vehicle mode some how looks MORE boring without it but if this one has the shoulder problem fixed I might buy it

Look at those elbow joints on the legacy one tell theyre not the a different color.

 

Sure would like to see the vehicle mode comparison with, I don't know, both fully transformed... that would be cool, lol.

 

Yeah, I thought the same thing on seeing the pictures. I think this picture illustrates it most clearly, that elbow joint definitely looks discolored:


It could be a different color of plastic, or a weird mix, or a defect given the unspoken nature of these "early" copies, but with how things have been going with yellowed plastic recently, I'm not that inclined to give Hasbro the benefit of the doubt on things like this.

 

I think at the end of the day.... SS BB Soundwave is just plain superior.

 

This is alright I guess. It'd have been nice I they included Ravage or Laserbeak. Those 2 are expensive asf right now and I think it would've sold this figure more

 

The thing is that its a retail copy, he showed the packaging which he got from toys r us.

 

The scratched up chest is utter garbage to the eye, and it really bugged the heck out of me on the original Siege variant to where I didn’t even like looking at it, lol.  

I replaced 35th Soundblaster when the Takara/Mercenary came out, and got rid of space goo Siege Soundwave long time ago in favor of the Earthmode/Netflix version.

I kinda missed the Cybertronian Soundwave with official lampost mode, but did not want to re-buy the figure, especially at the prices people are trying to sell it for on the secondary.

Thus, looking forward to getting the Legacy variant without the goo and for msrp from Amazon this week!  

 

That's a bit worrying. I'll be honest, I'm so used to the usual debates surrounding these videos that I completely overlooked the actual pictures of the packaging.

 

It’s the same altmode just without any weathering. Not much left to the imagination here.

 

I'm tempted to get this one just to swap heads with my Netflix Soundwave.
Maybe arms too since mine's yellowing is so goddamn bad on the guns and elbows...
