From DNA’s Facebook page, new upgrade kit for Legacy Laser Optimus revealed.

Release date is October 2022

 

I guess the hand upgrade is nice, but given how they messed up Galvatron's hands I have low expectations for these (not to mention that the arms still look puny in comparison to the pauldrons, which is my main problem with the figure). The Battle Tanker upgrade is awesome, however. That toy really had an effect on people's perception of G2 Prime, didn't it?

 

Well this fixes and adds the majority of things I wanted so that works for me! I still want to pick up a better sword, though, and maybe some extra wheels to bulk out his rear wheels.

I also hate his biceps. They really do look weedy. Doesn't look like there's any room to bulk them up, really, based on where they go in alt-mode.

 

meh, it's really not enough, needs new kneepads and things to fix his shoulder pauldrons, something individuals have already been working on.

 

Hell yeah! I was waiting for this. They're taking the best of other sets and adding extra stuff! (Also, it seems like this is the set that takes the most inspiration from Maketoys Battle Tanker so far).

Hope QC is good though.

 

As cool as the missile launchers are, they dropped the ball again with giving him better legs and added articulation to his shoulders...

 

By the way DNA, I would TOTALLY buy a SS86 Arcee set that gives her her classic set of guns, a couple of swords, new forearms with wrist swivels and (hopefully) a new headsculpt that includes a visor.

 

I like it. Between this and ToyHax, it'll be expensive, but I'll be pretty happy with how he looks after. It'll be pretty easy for them to do the same for Black Convoy, too, which will be appreciated

 

Kinda disappointed. I wanted a better sword too. I don’t need the make toys homage stuff.

That kits brings me Maketoys memories...

 

All that work and still no improved shoulders and they don't even replace anything from the waste down.

The inevitable Scourge/Nemesis recolor of this kit is gonna be very tempting, the overall look suits him perfectly imo.

 

The way the trailer halves equip to the arms with this upgrade set remind me of way back in the day when the legendary City Commander came out and he just had that big goddamn gun for no real reason.

Here, this set does greatly improve the visual aesthetics and I will be picking it up if I do get a Laser Optimus, but I'm still on the fence about that because of those weird shoulders - a problem I don't think can be fixed without having to straight up disassemble and substitute parts which I don't think many people would be willing to do as I believe pin hinges are involved.

A Scourge version of this set would hopefully include some color-correction parts to fix those big pink shoulders, as that more than anything is the biggest upgrade the Scourge iteration needs.

 

You'd think they'd focus on the shoulders and legs.

This kit essentially turns the trailer into make toys trailer that was made for the reveal the shield CHUG prime.

I would rather they made a kit that improves the actual intended character with more accurate weapons for base mode, a bigger sword, maybe new waist and knees, some sort of shoulder or upper arm mod.

Then that kit can be repainted for Scourge. Instead this kit will be repainted into a form scourge never had and does nothing to improve the issues.
