FINALLY, it only took them like 5 years to get it right. Now please do either the ss32 or ss44 version.

Ugh, they still couldn't paint the inner plates of the legs.

Paintjob is good, I guess, but why couldn’t this have been the SS32 mold?

Nice but no thanks, as I’d wait for the SS32 version instead

Would have nice, especially with Jetfire coming up next. I have SS44 already but not SS05 so I guess this works out good for me, but sucks for people who have been waiting for a chance to get an affordable SS32. Would have been a much better seller probably too since aftermarket prices are so high on that mold.

Well, the flames (and alt mode) look great. Why would they have done SS-05?! SS-32 is much more accurate, is more expensive on the aftermarket, and combines with Jetfire, which was at least at one point a planned PF release. That's so disappointing, I likely would have picked it up if it was the SS-32 mold.

While I’d probably prefer the one that combines, I kinda want this.

I do remember preferring the original if judged as a standalone product, though it’s been a long time since I handled either so idk

So will this work with the DOTM OP and the back jetwing parts?

ugh, I just added ALL those details with Toyhax stickers. D'oh!

edit: are those side gas tanks and front ones on the doors painted? Or chromed? Tough to tell.

Very annoyed that they're doing this with the inferior mold. It does look nice though.

Same and It’s weird they chose this version when they’re supposed to be doing a PF SS Jetfire next. And also it’s the weaker of the 2 molds

I do actually. I forgot that it came with the adapters to allow the wings to attach.

So the mold itself is the first run of this? Didn't that one suck? lol

Anyway, thank you for the info.

This is disappointing for a multitude of reasons.

    1) The inferior mold being used. I get if they wanted to have the collapsing wheel wells on the ankle but they didn't do anything with that paint-wise, so what's the point?

    2) Several paint apps still missing, including the red on the panel on the inside of the lower leg, the outside of the shin area being blue, several missing details on the entirety of the arm, missing silver and gold highlights on the head, and more.

    3) Apparently Jetfire is next in this line, so why would you pick the version of the mold that CAN'T combine with him?

The gold fade is always appreciated, and the upper body looks pretty good with the additional paint, but you're honestly better off with SS32 + Toyhax. This is a baffling release.

These are some of the saddest looking 'premiums' I've ever seen.

I guess this is just Takara getting rid of unsold stock, giving them slightly above average paintjobs and acting like that makes a huge difference all of a sudden.

It does look nice. I'll wait to see if the final version actually looks like this. Maybe I'll get it to replace SS-05.

I\'m torn: on one hand it looks really nice
on the other, like a few others have stated, its beyond me why they\'d go with the rotf version instead of the 2007 prime

Yeah, this one is gonna be divisive to the few who care about PF (I’m one of them). Obviously it’s strange that they picked the less-accurate, non-combining version of Studio Prime. The negatives of that choice outweigh the positives. SS-05 Prime has a smoother transformation (IMO) and the collapsing wheel wells on his feet, but his chest and back are far less accurate. It’s very cool that he gained extra accessories in the two guns, but the guns were part of the SS-32 retool, which confuses me even further. Why take the guns but nothing else? Maybe Takara just really wanted him to be able to use the swords, which SS-32 can’t hold as well due to his arm panels partly blocking the bottoms of his hands, but you lose so much else in exchange.

Also worth noting that this is the first PF release with new parts compared to its original release. The guns are a nice addition for sure, but if they were doing new parts it baffles me further that they wouldn’t use the alternate unmasked face that we’ve known has existed for this mold since it came out. At this rate, it’ll never see an official release, and that’s just too bad.

I might get it anyway, because the deco really does look nice and I personally enjoy the SS-05 tooling a lot, but it’s a huge missed opportunity.
