well, yeah....gonna need it!! Do t mind the occasional Funko in my TF collection, since he's a supposed sdcc exclusive doubt I'll get it, but we shall try
It's exclusive to "Funkon," their replacement for SDCC this year. It'll be available on funko.com by winning a lottery and through a shared retailer (probably GameStop).
Do you have a link to enter the lottery? I dont collect the pops but dont mind a couple of my favorite transformers.
Funko pop is like beanie babies, lol. In two years youll probably be able to buy any one for 5 bucks on ebay.
Wait, a lottery just for a chance to buy it? Gads. Yeah, no. They've been around for years now and don't seem to be slowing down.
Unfortunately to join the lottery you had to have had a funko account prior to May I believe. However, the only difference from buying it on funko.com and from a shared retailer is a small amount of text on the sticker which I don't think anyone really cares about and sense grimlock is still available Shockwave should be pretty easy to get
My worst nightmare has come true. I hate Pops, but logically, I must have this. Good thing my wife has a Funko account. I can maintain plausible deniability while having access. Yeah, people said that years ago, but the prices are still going up. While I personally detest pops and feel like they are the cockroaches of toys, the company has been pretty smart from the beginning on how they handle releases, exclusives, etc.
I do feel like it’s inherently faddy and the bottom could drop out at any moment, but they have been really smart at how they’ve grown their business, even if the FOMO of it is pretty gross and seems to be infecting things like TFs and other lines. (personally, I hate the dead-eyed sameness of the core design, but have noticed any TF they do with a visor or hero with a mask looks a lot better/annoys me a lot less)
Yeah, I felt it was a fad years ago when my daughter started collecting them, and yet, here we are. They've outlasted expectations, and I've watched as local toy stores turned from toy shops to pop shops. We even have a toy store in town called the pop shack, making no pretense of what they cater to. While I don't think they will last forever, I do think the company has been strategically smart and can probably go on for a lot longer. And since they aren't restricted by IPs, they can always jump on the latest popular IP assuming they can acquire the licensing.
They did the same with Grimlock, but then it was available at other retailers with a different sticker.
