    Transformers sera tourné à Montréal
Transformers will be filmed in Montreal
The next production will start in early July

    Tuesday, March 23, 2021

After the superheroes of X-Men a few years ago, it will be the turn of the Transformers robots to take up residence in Montreal this summer: the seventh film of the saga will be shot in the metropolis from the beginning of July, the Journal has learned. .

Eleven weeks of shooting are planned in Montreal, in the premises of Studios MELS and MTL Grandé, between the beginning of July and the end of September. The production will then head to Peru to film the second portion of the feature film.

According to our information, this mega-production from the studio Paramount Pictures had been in the sights of Montreal for more than a year. The first talks with the Hollywood studio in order to attract the filming in the metropolis had been started at the end of 2019, that is to say before the start of the pandemic. The film's budget would hover around $ 200 million.

Few details have leaked so far on the 7 th and the next installment in the franchise Transformers . The Hollywood press announced last fall that director Steven Caple Jr ( Creed 2 ) had been chosen to lead the project. The names of the actors who will star in the film have not yet been released. Paramount has nevertheless already determined a date for the release of the feature film: June 24, 2022.

Released between 2007 and 2018, the first six Transformers grossed a fortune at the box office, generating more than $ 4.8 billion in global box office revenue.

Since the resumption of filming at the end of last summer, Montreal has once again become a very popular place for American productions. Last fall, the Hollywood sci-fi film Moonfall , with its host of stars (Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, Donald Sutherland), was filmed entirely "in COVID mode" in the greater metropolitan area.

A budget around $200 million is intriguing as we've heard the films would be closer in budget to Bumblebee moving forward (please correct me if I'm wrong). Hopefully they're using that budget to give us more CGI scenes to flesh out the robots as characters.

For context The 07 Movie had a $147 Million Budget. Adjusted for inflation it’s
$189,740,723.49. They have about 10.3 Million more then 2007.

Neat, at least this means some progress is happening behind the scenes.

And that we could potentially see the alt modes soon enough that's my best guess

A larger budget means a larger robot cast. I still think Dark of the Moon had the most balanced Autobot Roster:
    Leader: Optimus Prime.
    Medic: Ratchet.
    Tech Specialist: Wheeljack/Que.
    Warriors: Bumblebee, Dino, and Sideswipe.
    Heavy: Ironhide, Roadbuster, Topspin, and
    Leadfoot.
Hopefully Transformers 7 meets DOTM's roster expectations.

Didn't receive a word on the Budget, just the location. Since they are flying to Canada and Peru, $200 million sounds about right.

As bad as the movie series was it doesn\'t deserve to end with a cliffhanger.

Agreed. Was Last Knight good, IMO no. But I don’t like an unfinished product. It feels like a bit of a slap in the face to people like me who grew up with the movies or enjoyed them for what they were, only to see them jump ship because 1 movie didn’t do as well as the other 4.

Edit: to add on to this it’s like if the ‘86 animated movie just abruptly ended with Prime dying and Megatron approaching Unicron. And then that’s it. No Rodimus no Galvatron, no Season 3.

That’s about 237.9 Million in 2021 money due to inflation.

Making a film to the bayverse is walking to a land with land mines it's a bad move for paramount to even make one more to end the bayverse as a company do you risk losing peoples trust again after the success of bumblebee or do you continue this success and gain their trust back.

Interesting, they now feel confident to use the typical large budget yet they seem to be trying to film out of the public eye.  I don\'t know why it\'s called TF 7 if it\'s a full reboot? Sure 7th film, but I\'d think they\'d start over as a way to distinguish from Bayverse. I know they say Bumblebee is the start of this better universe ( depends on the fan) though it\'s still strongly connected to Bayverse to me.  Also, wouldn\'t we know by now if this was BB 2, beast wars ( which I can\'t see being live action) or another idea?

I know people going to ask how\'s BB not better than Bayverse? I love how Bayverse was it\'s own universe; taking ideas from the existing media and making new ideas. Sure not perfect, but a new director would really help. IMO it\'s better than focusing on one era. Though also I believe every universe has G1. The 2 sides, the leaders, the war, energon, how cons are mostly seekers etc. Just how I see it.

Hopefully the larger budget means the bot characters have a good amount of time to be characters this time around.
