The owner of the 1987 Freightliner Paramount rented from to create Optimus Prime's alt mode for the Bumblebee movie has recently put the truck on sale. So it seems like anyone who's willing to pay for it (and let alone have room for it) can now own a life-size Optimus Prime.

Gawd, Imagine owning this absolute beauty.

 

Wow, I'd buy that if I had the money. I'd love to own an Optimus truck, even though I'd probably never use it for any practical purpose (could be fun to take to car shows or something).

I'm not any sort of authority on the price of semi trucks or prop vehicles, but it feels like this guy could get a lot more for this if he advertised it in the right place. He seems to be pricing and selling it as a regular truck (with the assumption that it will be used to haul cargo), whereas I'd be hyping the heck out of the fact that this is the truck from the movie. Surely there are some film buffs or hardcore Transformer fans (or even a film museum or something) out there who would pay a lot more than $21,600 for a film prop of Optimus Prime...a very influential pop-culture character. If I owned this thing, I wouldn't be posting it to Facebook truck groups for the price of a regular semi.

 

Sounds right to me. Someone should let him know.

It amuses me, how we see this as "OPTIMUS PRIME", while he sees it as "truck with brand new air compressor, needs new door and fenders, was in one scene of a movie once"

I hope someone tells him that there's an alternative market here that he's not considering, I'd hate for him to miss out and sell to someone who'd just flip it.

 

Thats what I’m thinking too. This needs to be owned by either a car collector or a museum, not some random dude who’s gonna drive it to work everyday.
