Forgive my ignorance, but that front shot just looks like they took her G1 character model.

I think we can group all Ken's Earthrise concept art here since he also told us that this was his last collaboration and he would be able to share his Kingdom art next year.

FWIW all three views were from original animation model sheets:

Ooof, so what happened? Was this a misunderstanding? Or did someone just try to pass off the original artwork as something new?

The color pattern is more "how we usually see it nowadays" and not the original movie version. '86 movie Arcee has her arms and hands match her face, implying they are "bare", and that she's wearing like bracers and arm bands. But nowadays you almost always see her arms and hands match her abs and legs, with only her face being her "skin" color.

Beat me to it. It's almost exactly the same. Dare I say, traced.

How was this supposed to transform? It’s so slimmed down and humanoid.

he’s just commissioned to draw her. He’s not told to engineer it. They base the figures on his drawing and that’s all.

Seems odd to draw her if it’s just the same thing as the animation model

    Umm...

"Ken has worked with Hasbro designing several toys for different lines, and he shows us his early design of Autobot Arcee"

Anyway, yeah, guess it's a nice exact replica of the original G1 drawing and whatnot, but I'd hardly call that a "concept" since barely resembles the actual figure other than being pink & white.

Designing and engineering are not the same thing.

have you seen his other stuff? He also did overlord and his overlord was just the original overlord. Down to giga and mega and the accessories. No Titan master gimmick. He’s just commissioned to draw characters with little to no knowledge or what’s gimmick that will be applied.

Derrr yeah no shit, smart guy - no one said it was. :rolleyes2  The point is virtually all concept art also has a design process in mind - it's not just verbatim tracings of previously available art that was, well, already conceptualized. As an example, look at virtually all of Don Figueora's concept art and compare it to the subsequent figures that came out - damn near exact replicas... and he was no engineer ether. That's what I was highlighting... which is obvious to those that know how to read. Contrary to some people's aversion to basic common sense on these boards, the literal meaning of things isn't up for defensive personal interpretation only when it's convenient to them.

Right, and still relates exactly to my previous point.

Well, the concept art got the face and neck colors correct. That alone makes it a huge upgrade over the figure, itself.

I really hope they do an '86 movie series release for Arcee that gives us a figure worth having.
