Are those 3rd party Bumblebee movie figures non-transformable? They look pretty amazing on there own already.

I think those are model kits. And definitely non-transformable, if licensed.

That's usually what WonderFest is, since it's typically a showcase for garage kit/indie sculpting studios.

[edit] Just to expand a bit further, we're a bit spoiled by the Japanese arm of the convention circuit, since some larger manufacturers do use the venue to show off their up-and-coming products as well. But this sort of thing is what WonderFest is actually supposed to be about.

Yup, they're non-transforming models by Trumpeter. They're snap-fit and require no glue or paint, and apparently advertised as not even needing nippers to get them off the runners, they just pop off. The Bumblebee that's on display in colour is already out and it's quite good, very articulated, and comes pre-painted and moulded in the correct colours. Bumblebee at least also has more accessories than what's shown here. (he has an alternate set of movie-accurate door wings, as well as extra hands)

Blitzwing seems to be made of plastic and unpainted, which means hopefully he'll be out soon. Everyone else seems to be 3D-printed so far. It's also worth noting that between the first reveals and now, many of these kits have improved. The details especially have increased and sharpened, so expect the final products to be much more accurate and detailed than what's shown here. Also, we know Shatter and Dropkick are coming, but I guess they just didn't have them out this time, and there's a larger size class that's even more detailed and articulated coming that will at least feature Bumblebee, Blitzwing, Optimus and Soundwave. The kits on display are between four to five inches and are not to scale, but for example the larger Blitzwing will scale with the smaller Bumblebee. So far we don't have any info on the larger assortment of kits. In fact, info on these kits at all is hard to come by. We don't even know of any major retailers carrying them despite Bumblebee himself already being out. Only stores like Show Z, TF-Direct, and Robot Toy Base that deal a lot in unofficial 3P and KOs seem to have access to these, despite being officially licensed models released with the Transformers branding and everything.

The history of the line as we know it is all catalogued in this thread, and that's where you can see what I mean about the prototypes refining over time. The line is shaping up to be potentially fantastic, especially since this is Trumpeter's first time ever doing articulated "mecha" models as far as I'm aware. previously all the company has produced is scale military models the likes of which found in old man hobby stores. Y'know, the ones that do require glue and paint and even then aren't that great, then they come out swinging with all these prototypes that everyone expected would instead be basic statues but no, they're more or less buildable action figures. Gotta say, I'm impressed.

Hasnt wonderfest had several transfornable exclusives ranging fron Jizai wheelie, cyclonus, and powerglide, to offical black repaints of various Prime figures ? Wasnt the blue repaint of ROTF Mindwipe/Smokescreen a wonderfest exclusive too ?

sixshot's submarine mode is upside down...

ok, actually it is pretty cool they have mini representations of his alt-modes so you can sorta do one of those psuedo box-art representation displays

Wonderfest is a free-for-all. It's the figurine equivalent of Japan's "Comiket" event. Indie hobbyists and creators can apply for a relatively inexpensive temporary license that allows them to hawk wares based on copywrited IPs with little restriction.

If the hobbyists are a bit more ambitious and feel like making a transforming figure/action figure, then that's entirely on the individual. It's not the norm.

Wonderfest is often the birthplace for Japan's expansive figurine marketplace. Larger manufacturers will sniff out the grounds for particularly eye-catching pieces, and pay for the right to reproduce them in PVC for the mass-market.

And as I said, just because official companies have used the venue for promotional purposes before, it's not the main focus. It's primarily a con for indie artists, not a trade show. And that's almost always at the Japanese version of the event, not the Shanghai one.

I'd like to report that the Windblade in pics is against site's decency policy, as it objectiv... oh, who gives a fuck. But it's the same thing as that Big Firebird crap.

It does seem a tad "naughty ", in that it looks like the stylised "comic book" depictions of females (complete with "impossible" body stretching).

I'm not sure if it's as explicit as that recent 3P Arcee or Kiss Players/Takara Tomy Titanmasters pack-in manga, though. Anyone else?

    @analogue

Sixshot looks good, but I'm disappointed he has a sword. Dual guns is more appropriate.

I don’t think it's going to be fun to track down, but hey, it looks really good.

Good lord, those statues are outstanding. I want to see them in-person.

And Trumpeteer’s model kit line is the joyous surprise I can’t wait to buy every figure from.

Honestly.. It's not that far off from her old idw design...windblade has always been a fairly sexualized character considering her giant stilettos and boob plate...

I found the hostility towards firebird Arcee amusing considering Flame Toys Windblade and Masterpiece Black Airachnia are equally as sexualized if not more and we all were okay with those. Transformers_Windblade_3_SUB.jpg
