Please, make it catch on. I was not excited to log in last night and see I had to pre-order something else!

    doubt it.
wave 2 of earthrise hasnt even hit retail yet.
i live in the shadow of a pretty big city. and i havent seen a new deluxe/voyager/leader in stores since wave 1 of earthrise hit in febuary.

no. we'll continue as we are now. nothing being released for the mainline, but a small trickle of reveals and online preorders.

At this point if you think any kind of fan culture convention is going to happen in 2020 you'll most likely be wrong.

    This is in 2021 though.

Really, I suspect trade conventions are never coming back. We're going to see an almost total death of culture over the next three years.

Wouldn't be surprised either. It's the sort of thing that keeps itself going via inertia; retailers will probably realize "you know what, we don't actually need these" once they're no longer happening. (Which incidentally is just gonna up the power of the larger retailers.)

But with the Internet they, while fun, aren’t really necessary anymore.

This lets companies like hasbro have things like fan Friday’s and such to promote their brand.

And I wouldn’t worry about the culture, E3 has been a shadow of itself for a couple years now and Video Games are still going strong.

To be honest, the real value of the convention isn't what actually happens at the convention, like the reveals or whatnot. Its being able to get together with other people and celebrate shared passions. So conventions will continue after this - I just expect a lot less conventions because of the economic impact shutting a lot of them down.

If they plan to delay the kingdom reveals because of this, then I hope we get more leaks out soon.

Thank goodness all offerings will be virtual because for 99.9% of us, meaning those of us who aren't YT personalities and aren't able to get badges, the experience has always been virtual.

I've actually found this to be pretty fun. You get a more personal approach (most of the time, when they aren't obviously reading a marketing script) vs. a YTer sweeping their camera around and either mouth breathing into their mic or giving commentary as they show off product.
