If their BB movie Soundwave is any indication, he'll turn into a fairly laughable excuse for an "alt mode," just so they can say he transforms.

And wow, the movie designers really left a lot of Optimus' details exactly the same on this guy, huh? The abs, skirt, knees... jeez. Must've really been in a rush when they were making him.

 

I had to look up the CGI model because the fat head just looks so off to me, but this is pretty much 100% accurate in every respect. Can't wait!

I think an interview with one of the crew said they had 2 weeks to do the opening sequence so all the characters are modified Bumblebee or Optimus or Blitzwing models.

Visual effects artists are so under-appreciated & taken for granted, considering how heavily studios depend on them.

 

It does look weird, you are right. But TBH, with all of the 5 seconds we saw Shockwave in the Bumblebee movie, I have no idea how he looked other than he was purple and had one eye. I got the DVD right here, but im not interested in pressing pause to just cosign this figure. Im a Bayverse fan so I could have lived without that 5 minute video game looking scene. If Hasbro makes the figures at retail prices in the Studio Series I will buy them like I bought Cliffjumper. And I honestly think it will happen. Blitzwing's inaccurate but extremely triangular jet mode is a good indication that its a "pre-tool" for a Bumblebee movie tetra jet. We just gotta be patient and make it through the 1986 (aka fake studio series) releases. Which for the record, ill be buying them too. I just think that should have been an Earthrise wave 4 and not take up slots that could be used for Slug, Scorn, Hatchet, Dino, the twins, and other characters that actually belong in the Studio Series. Whats the real definition of a "studio" anyways ? If youre going to start throwing in non-live action cartoons then the entire Sunbow cartoon series qualifies for the Studio Series. They can put Beast Hunters characters in Studio Series too because was a 90 minute film that didnt have comercial breaks, lol. Oh well, but back to Shockwave, im curious to see someone tackle the alt mode for this guy. Does offical alt mode concept art exist for him and others inside the Hasbro vault ? And will they pull a dick move and release it after some of these 3rd parties invent their own takes on the alt mode ? Who knows ?
