Starting off a thread for our Earthrise shoots like we did for Siege. I'm still digging the Generations figures this round, so plan on getting a good chunk. Between Siege and Earthrise, I'll probably have purchased more mainline figures than I have in the last decade combined.

First up, Grapple and Starscream, and our shoots come courtesy of TFSource!

Starscream was far better then I thought but he needs filler parts for his sides and a smirking face

grapple or as I\'m calling him Hauler is pure perfection
his transformation is so simple and easy but so fun
even if his face screams I will build a wall around you while you scream for mercy and when I\'m done no one will ever find you

Holding Starscream in jet mode will trigger a little Chris Latta voice your head.

So did your Grapple break after putting him in vehicle mode?

Sadly, the figure does not include the necessary therapy to get over Chris-Latta-themed Schizophrenia.

Got these guys yesterday. This is my first Grapple figure (I'm an old G1er), and I'm pretty pleased with him- just a good G1 update, with plenty of articulation. I wish they'd stowed his gun under his alt mode, as there's a space between the feet and legs that almost seems purposely wide enough to accommodate it, but they didn't take advantage of it, more's the pity. Except on combat aircraft where it's apropos, I'm not a fan of guns affixed externally to vehicle modes. I wish they'd given Grapple's boom an additional telescoping bit of extension, but as it is, it works. I'm pleasantly surprised that the boom can rotate, as that's usually the sort of detail that HasTak skimps on. While Grapple does suffer a bit of hollow limb syndrome, I forgive it, as the toy is sculpted and painted well, has excellent articulation in bot mode, realistically working vehicle mode features (too bad the outriggers don't extend), and just has nice presence. I don't think you could ask for a better Grapple figure within the retail mainline.

By contrast, Starscream is a step back in articulation compared to his Siege figure, and his fighter mode isn't even as accurate as that of the Classics toy he was modeled after. At this point, a single piece loincloth should be verboten, as it just doesn't look nice, especially in more dynamic poses. I wish they'd eschewed the Classics design in favor of the MP transformation to give him a better fighter mode without a gaping hole below the forward fuselage, and to get rid of that white band that wraps over his cockpit in bot mode. That was ok for a deluxe fig thirteen years ago, but this was a perfect opportunity to make a simplified MP fig in the mainline and they went instead with the inferior Classics design. SS has no landing gear to speak of, and his characteristic F-15 exhaust nozzles have been replaced by little squarish blue heel pieces. It's disheartening when third parties are nailing this guy with legends sized figs; at the voyager scale, they could have really made a notable figure, but instead took the path of least investment by cloning an old concession-laden design. On the positive side, he does look nice in bot mode, and his fighter mode is decent from above. He has some nice sculpted detail work and paint/tampo is well done on mine. But as you can see from the fighter profile shot above, there's much amiss. He's fun to handle and play around with, but I lament what could have been, especially when other figures in the line, like Grapple, demonstrate far more effort put forward.

As nice as ER Starscream looks in both modes I am still highly bothered by the lack of a waist swivel. Engineering issues aside it leaves his dynamic posing ability very limited. Siege Screamer has considerably more articulation points in addition to the waist. Worse part is I have to deal with it again and again if I want more ER Seekers.

Answering Stormragetron's question of whether SS's chest cockpit is the plane cockpit, yes it is. If you're familiar with the Classics Seeker mold from 2007, it's very similar to that toy's design and transformation.

There should be a "Multiquote" button to build up more than one (pasted from the "Insert Quotes" button that will show up under your pending post), or to just quote a single post, hit the "Quick Reply" button

Amazing pics. I've been able to snag Optimus and Starscream. Still trying to find Grapple, and have 'Jumper and Hoist on pre order from Amazon. I must say, so far I'm really impressed!
