Will it feature peter cullens voice ? And , is his voice worth the full price ? Or just stick with my AJ preorder and ignore the fact he even has a sound chip ... hmm.. I must meditate over this .

To each their own, but I would not want a figure talking to me. If I was seven or eight years old, yeah. As an adult collector and as a figure aimed entirely at adult collectors, it seems out of place and just kind of odd to me. If you want to hear the voice of Optimus Prime, watch the tv show/movie or use your imagination. I'm sorry, I don't want to stand there as an adult and press a button over and over while a figure repeats catchphrases recorded into it by some corporation...I don't know, I honestly find it pretty insulting by Hasbro.

$450. No way anyone buys this for that price.

C'mon, we know loads of folks will. If this has a Cullen voice chip then I guess I'll opt for this over the Takara, on the presumption they'll be the same - which it almost certainly will be.

This should be the same one solicited through Entertainment Earth and Gamestop and the likes. So it's distributed via Hasbro Asia, and is unmodified from the Japanese release. No Cullen voice chip.

If anyone pays $150 more than Amazon JP for a different voice chip (which there is no indication of that to my knowledge), they are crazier than I thought.

this is fucking absurd. I don't collect Masterpiece figures, but there is no way that i could ever justify spending $450.00 (+ shipping) on a toy. The only way i could ever see myself spending that amount on a figure is if maybe Hastak made a pack of everyone from Beast Machines using all new parts and no repaints. but that would be something like 12 figures or something. The most I ever spent on a figure was when I saw MMC Nova Prime was on sale for 190. oh, and when I got the Magnus Prime figure and godbomber and 2 perfect effect add on kits. but again, that was multiple figures and i think it was like 180 after everything.

here's what 450 can buy you in grown up land

about 6 months of car insurance
2 years of haircuts (if you get them monthly)
an off brand 52 inch TV (saw it at target today, so i know that's legit)
that's about 4-5 weeks of groceries for me and my family
3 or 4 years of netflix subscriptions
4 years of web hosting on godaddy

450 is probably what I'll spend on Siege for the year if you don't count the battlemasters and micromasters

Yeah when I'm thinking about price in the context of Transformers, you have those 3A figures which cost about this much. That's too much for me also, but at least those are huge, gorgeously crafted pieces. Masterpiece Transformers are also premium, but not like that.

Except that we're now having a conversation about the MSRP of a US release. Figures like MP-10 and MP-13 ended up retailing in the US for significantly less than their Japanese counterparts. US collectors who've been balking at the price of MP-44 had at least some reason to hope a domestic release would make this guy more affordable.

No skin off my back with an AmazonJP preorder locked in, but I get the sentiment of those complaining.

    Isn’t there a $400 3P Tarn coming up??Why isn’t anyone bitching about that?
For years I’ve seen people bitch and moan about how Hasbro needs to get on 3P level and when they not only do but hit it out of the park we’re gonna bitch because it comes at a premium 3P price???

    Dafuq did y’all expect?!?!

Amazon Japan is $315 with shipping to the US.

If you have a credit card or a store that sells prepaid credit cards you can order from AJ.

A lot of anyones here already have ordered it. Including me. Plenty of people pay more for those expensive Action Masters and three times this much for statues. This actually transforms.
