So I just noticed that according to TFWiki the two part pilot "Recruits" aired on December 8th... almost three weeks ago and yet NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT?

I know it's a preschool version of Transformers but with as popular as the original Rescue Bots was I'm surprised no one is talking about the new series. Did no one know that it even aired?

And it's already gone on hiatus since it seems the pilot is all we're getting of the new Rescue Bots till next year...

Anyway... I'm going to go see if it's available on Demand or if anyone has uploaded it online.

Haven't had a chance to watch it yet. My only worry is that they are going to make Hotspot really a heavy shonen hero type trope here.

I was only able to find the first episode online, and as it's just the first part of the introduction story, it's hard to discuss anything about it without seeing the second.

There is no Hotspot in this series... There's Heatwave who is kinda similar to Hotspot because they're both fire trucks and the leader of a rescue team but that's pretty much all they have in common... And there's Hot Shot who is absolutely nothing like Hotspot besides having a name that's one letter off. Based on his look and description it seems like he'd just going to be the character from Armada but a little younger.

This show doesn't know how to count. I just looked at my DVR and saw episodes 1, 2, 7, and 3 in that order. How is 7 before 3 and what happen to 4, 5, and 6?

I checked future recordings. 4, 5, 6, and 8 are going to air over the next two weeks, two episodes every Saturday. So it seems only episode 7 aired out of order.

I was going to wait till Friday so I could watch with the little one but I think I want to check this out of order episode and see if there's any references to things that haven't happened yet. If I need to hold off till the other episodes air I'd rather show him in the correct order. Though he was laughing his butt off yesterday when I mentioned the order so even though he can't talk at least I know he can count. He was clearly laughing cause he's knows that order is wrong and thought it was funny. He can't talk because of a physical disability but he's just as smart as a normal kid his age.

It doesn't look like you're going to miss anything if you watch the episodes out of order but they do get new gadgets in episode 7 and it might look kinda strange if they don't use or reference them in the following four episodes.

Anyway... Hot Shot transforms into an ATV and Wedge questions since when is that a rescue vehicle... my first thought was you're a construction vehicle, since when is that a rescue vehicle. Wedge and Boulder make no sense and are the last people who should be making fun of Hot Shot... who actually could be useful for off road rescues since his vehicle mode is built for rough terrane.

There are two bots in the first episode who look like Arcee and Blaster except if this is supposedly set in the same continuity as Prime and RID2015 how is there a much younger G1 looking Arcee? Though I kinda question why any of them look like kids at all.

There's also another continuity problem... the original Rescue Bots had to scan new vehicle modes but these guys are given badges that give them vehicle modes so where did Hot Shot's ATV mode even come from when he couldn't transform into it on Cybertron and never actually scanned a vehicle mode. It's like those vehicles were just programmed into the badges or the badges had all kinds of Earth modes in them and picked something close to what they were on Cybertron... How exactly do these things work?

More to the point, scanning and trsforming into multiple alternate modes was something very difficult that Heatwave had to earn but Optimus just gives Hot Shot a special badge that gives him three vehicle modes? WTF why? And apperently he can only transform into one vehicle per day... which reminds me of that terrible Go-Bots cartoon... Not Challenge of the Go-Bots, the other one similar to Rescue Bots but not nearly as good where everyone had two alternate modes but only used one per episode. And they all had names like Speedbot, Beastbot, and Aerobot. I don't really like Hot Shot being given special treatment right out of the gate. He's also the only character we actually see being recruited, everyone else is just already at the Academy.

Even though I don't like Hot Shot, I don't really like Wedge constantly competing with him either. Wedge is just an annoying character in this show. Hot Shot would be fine if they didn't treat him like a special case and just made him on the same level as the other recruits but it just makes no sense why he's so special when there's really nothing special about him.

I like Whirl... I already liked the design better than the Shockwave clone but her personality is kinda fun too.

Medix... why does the cartoon make him look like a car instead of an Ambulance? And he kinda reminds me of a Mini-Chase.

    Hoist is kind like Boulder...

So um Whirl is the only one who doesn't remind me of another character and isn't annoying... though I kinda want to see her interact with Blades just because they're both helicopters. She's pulled off some maneuvers I don't think Blades would ever do because he's afraid of heights while Whirl doesn't seem scared at all so an interaction between the two I think would be interesting to watch. Same vehicle but totally opposite strengths and weaknesses when it comes to using them.

I reviewed the 2-part sneak peak back when it aired. I just posted it in the RB Academy thread pinned at the top of this forum. Haven’t seen any since though.

There are only five threads that have been pinned and not one of them has anything to do with Rescue Bots.

The Official TF: Cyberverse Torrents, Episode Downloads, Youtube Thread

Screenshots Organized By Episode: TFP & RID first arrival

Transformers Cyberverse Episodes 1 & 2, ''Fractured'' and "Memory"

    TF:RID & RID:CForce-- Screen Captures and Discussion

TFW Spoiler Policy (Updated September 2013)

I don't know where you posted at but it can't be in a RB Academy thread that doesn't exist. This is the only Rescue Bots Academy thread on the forum, I did a search before I started this and nothing came up. And this thread has never been pinned. So yeah I have no clue what you're talking about cause I can't find any thread matching that description.

Copied my more in-depth review from another site.

Rescue Bots Academy premiered this weekend.
Saw it. Didn’t hate it, but wasn’t enthralled by it. The theme song rips off Paw Patrol’s tagline with the whole “no job too big, no bot too small” bit. That’s the feeling I kept getting throughout this entire premier ep- that it really wants to be the robot version of Paw Patrol. Except that I find PP visually more appealing to the eyes (I watch a lot of it with my kids). For that matter, it’s lacking the charm that even Rescue Bots had in their pilot episode.
Honestly, if I had to pick between this & Paw Patrol, I’d go with the pups. But I don’t have to pick, so I’ll keep checking this one out.

    PROS:
    - voices of new characters are fine.
    - character designs are good.
    - animation is more fluid and smooth than Rescue Bots.
    - Cody Burns is back along with Heatwave & Chase to provide a link to RB.

    CONS:
voices of returning characters are passable at best (Chase) & not even close at worse (Optimus).
    - theme song is on speed. I couldn’t catch half of what they were singing.
    - despite being a 2-parter, this premiere still felt rushed with commercial breaks & end credits at off times.
    - feels like a Paw Patrol wannabe.

Favorite (new) Character so far: Whirl. I like her enthusiasm. Plus she’s kinda funny.
Least Favorite (new) Character so far: Medix. Didn’t do much & coupled with that voice, just kinda annoyed me.

Rescue Bots always felt very similar to Paw Patrol to me. I mean both shows even have a police character named Chase. They both also have construction equipment as rescue vehicles for some reason. There's even a transforming aspect as the Paw Patrol vehicles also double as their dog houses when not on missions.

Personally I prefer Rescue Bots but as a Transformers fan I'm completely bias. Though I do like Paw Patrol more than other preschool shows for a lot of the same reasons I like Rescue Bots, it's not something I would ever watch on my own. It's just something that's often left on for kids. Rescue Bots however... oddly I actually like watching it even when I'm kid free...

It also helps that Rescue Bots has a smaller cast so I actually know who all the characters are while Paw Patrol has a bunch of different characters and I really only know like half of them. Chase police puppy, Marshal fire puppy, Sky helicopter puppy, either Rebel or Rubble not entirely sure basically their version of Boulder... there's another girl puppy who's name I can't remember who has a snow rescue theme, and that's it... I'm pretty sure there are others but that's as much as I can remember without looking them up.

They usually only select the characters who would be best suited for a mission and focus on those characters for the episode. Which is different from how on Rescue Bots the entire team goes on every mission. But Paw Patrol has more characters so they can't have every character in every episode.

Whirl kinda reminds of Miko from Transformers Prime. It felt like everybody hated her, but I thought she was okay.

Does anybody actually hate Whirl? I think she's the best character in this series so far (sadly, it's not much, as every new character still has to gain any depth the original RB show was known for).

HOW DARE YOU COMPARE THE LIKEABLE WHIRL TO THE HORRIBLE MIKO! MIKO IS NOT WORTHY TO EVEN BE MENTIONED IN THE SAME BREATH AS WHIRL!

I was going to say that but since you already did I decided to make the above joke instead. I don't actually feel THAT strongly about it I just thought it's be funny to over exaggerate how much I like Whirl and hate Miko.

We know that's why he asked "Does anybody actually hate Whirl?" You were comparing the two characters as if to imply that everyone hates her but I haven't seen a single post complaining about her... yet.. I'm sure someone must hate her because everyone has different opinions but I'm not seeing a huge majority like I have for Miko. The Whirl haters must be a pretty small minority since they aren't making much noise.

He said it... Hot Shot said Jam... I don't even know how that originally started but I know it's a reference to something.

I had to rewind the DVR to confirm that actually did happen.

As for where "JAAM!" came from, it was originally a "let's make this so stupid it's... funny" edit of one of the mini-comics that came with the Armada toys. "Why my shoulders hurt?" comes from the same source. Might've been Walky that did it, or I may just be making connections that don't exist.
