According to an article on Dengekki Hobby Web there's an upcoming Takara Tomy campaign for a TLK Quad Barrell Shotgun.

The shotgun seems to be a repaint of one of the gun's of AOE Hound. The gun seems to be from a scene from TLK as noticed by Snaka's blog, but the promotional images show it with Voyager Studio Series Optimus Prime.

Starting from April 21st if you purchase more than 4,000 yen (tax included) of Transformers products, you can receive 1 Quad Burrell Shotgun in limited quantity. It will last until stocks are depleted.

Anyway... that's kinda lame, IMO. Just one of Hound's guns (one that didn't even work that well) with some splatters of Optimus paint.

 

Nice! I really liked that gun design, so I'm glad that it's possible to have a toy representation of it. Sucks that I'll probably not be able to get it.

 

Hm, it looks cool but its kind of a downgrade from the Mini-Con promos.

 

The fact that they're advertising this Prime doing AOE/TLK stuff makes me feel like they aren't tackling that design again anytime soon. I mean, i'm fine with the one we have, but I'd love one with improved leg articulation that can ride Studio Series Grimlock.

 

i don't get it.

if it was the accurate gun then for sure go ahead,but it's just a repainted gun from hound/bulkhead.

since takara is more serious about accuracy i expected more from them.

 

...what if the CGI was a repaint too..

 

...I can sympathize with not wanting to remember anything from The Last Knight, but it was literally identical to Hound's shotgun.

 

1/ DON'T buy more than 4,000 Yen's worth of products.
2/ Buy Hound for less money.
3/ Easily add red and blue paint to gun.
4/ Profit.

 

For what its worth this is really easy to do yourself with some paint pens. If you collect movie figures you probably have a set of AoE Hound guns kicking around. The thing to remember is that Prime can't really hold it naturally as the handle is designed for Hounds slanted grip, so if you use the hinge to make it sit straight it does look quite strange. Its a neat thing to have but honestly the sword and shield are much better weapons.

I'd be more interested if this was for the Leader Optimus. Seriously, by this point Caliber Optimus Prime has just about every weapon except this one thanks to the previous campaigns.

 

Just get an aoe hound shotgun and paint. It’s not that hard.

 

Would YOU spend money on travel to a retail shop to spend more in toys that might not be available, when it's cheaper online, and have to spend 4,000 yen, just to get THIS gun?

You could buy a ko gun and their away the robot or a better Shapeways version for cheaper or the same price. This isn't a chromed, golden or clear plastic version; it's a regular gun with some extra, can easily applied blobs of paint on it.

 

I don't care for this (I miss actual mini-cons or Arms Microns!)... but since I'm ineligible for these things anyway?  

It's too bad HasbroUSA (or Europe?) has no interest in promotions like these. I think a LOT of people would spend $40+ to get a freebie.

Anyone who says otherwise is also ineligible for this promotion!   Cause it's in Japan.  

 

Sure... unless you already spend that kind of dough and get NOTHING for free!  

I'm not saying I'd go out of my way for this, but I am saying I remember a movie promo in the USA, where one sent in receipts/proof-of-purchases to get 3 figures in the mail!  

And yes, if you had bought 2 figures, a promo like that does sway you to buy 1 more... just like this promo probably sways a Japanese citizen to get that 2nd figure!   (But I completely agree that this freebie is the laziest yet!  )

 

Not to mention who actually rembers this weapon from the film? It came out of nowhere and was reused model like everything else in the film.
