Huh, I hadn\'t thought about it, but Hasbro\'s running out of things for pre-Beast Era fans to pine for. I would love a return for Animated.
There's still a lot of G1/G2 to mine, and Hasbro intentionally has left some stuff undone in Generations just so they can have them to do again down the road. As for Animated, it's still too soon for a Generations style revival as those toys from a decade ago still hold up really well, but it could happen someday.
I still have 5 Animated Toys. Rodimus, Prowl, Prowl 2, Swindle and Wreckgar. That was indeed a great Toy line though I sold everything else. As for what needs to be made again, I think pretenders and action masters are the only sublimes left. Pretenders would be great if they did the “backpack” idea like the Botcon Prime and TFCC megs. But in reality, I would love them to do a deluxe sized transformer that converts but has armada style pegs that you can clip an outer shell to Centurions style. Yet separately that shell can be formed into a full figure. It would require a hell of a lot of engineering but would be awesome.
I held and played with a set of Tungsten dice from Level Up dice at PAX Unplugged (great boardgame/rpg/tabletop convention btw). They do feel super good (for me, not $600 good, but I could see being super happy with a set had I more disposable income/other things I didn\'t want to put that money towards) but don\'t roll them on a nice table. They will put real dents in it. As for what Generations could do next. I think if Hasbro/Takara does not believe that more beast wars will sell (dissappointing) what might get some people super happy and allow them to scale back on the gimmicks if they want to focus just on transformation again would be updated Car Robots. Going back and redoing some of those designs by taking out ball joints and using some of the transformation/design tricks they know now to keep the posability while removing some of the fiddle would be terrific. And updated deluxe spychangers would be fanstastic! I guess what I think I\'d like to see that I don\'t think we\'ll see anytime soon is a generations line dedicated outside of G1.
I really liked hearing you guys talk about paints. I have been making a lot of custom Marvel Legends and I have been using Testors. I don't get the best results. Glad to hear there are other options out there.
Listener Question: Hey gang, hearing about your 40 minute walks to Toys R Us made me laugh. I currently walk about two miles to the target near me every week or so, praying that they have the new wave of figures in stock. Those walks, and interacting with the sightings threads, are what got me involved in the tfw boards. I was wondering what your stories are. How did you all get involved with the boards, and what interesting you treks have you gone on?
I remember when RID was out, the best Walmart was a 2 hour train ride and a 15 minute walk away. That was always a disappointing trip if they had nothing.
Friggen Target has been shrinking their TF section probably since the film came out. It’s basically down to 8 to 10 pegs and 4shelf slots and half is movie figures, STILL.
