Mark Whalberg has stated on the The Graham Norton Show on Friday night (June 16) thats transformers the last knight will be his last transformers film.

He also stated thats he was tired of the long hair and looked like his mother from the 1970's and he finally gets his life back.

he also spent 5 months getting in shape for the role

Doesn't surprise me. With the next film slated to be in the 80s and Bumblebee oriented, it'd be kind of weird and unnecessary to drag Wahlberg's character through that timeline. Since 4 though, I always thought the next 2 movies would lead to a completed trilogy, and it never even occurred to me Transformers wanted to extend the story through prequels (at least not live-action wise)

Or they'll make him the first Headmaster. Going forward, he'll just be a bot that looks like Mark Wahlberg.

I like the Cade Yaeger character a lot, more than any of the main Witwicky protagonists in TF fiction, but if he moves on he moves on, and that's fine with me.

I never really liked Mark Whaleberg, so I can't say I'm all to upset. I do however worry about who the next human protag will be, id if they will literally do the same "I found an old car that turned out to be a Transformer!" bit.

I got so tired of Shia LeBlow after movie 3, so I was thankful for a change, even if it was Mark "I can't emote" Wahlzberg. Anyways, best wishes to the next asshole who signs up for movie 6, 7 or whatever.

Maybe give Tyrese or Josh the lead roll.

I would like to see Josh Duhamel take the role as the new main hero.

I am not saddened by this news.

Marky Markus Marvin was alright, but never clicked with me. He was inoffensive but kinda forgettable, and never felt like he was a part of the world.

I would like them to get rid of all the human characters and have a prequel on Cybertron. Who here liked Spike in the original cartoon anyway. I mean, come on.

Yes, I'd love to see Josh Duhamel take tge lead role. Then we wouldn't have to have the whole Civilians brought into war thing, Lennox would be the main character and we could keep it Autobots and Military centered.

No thanks to the suggestions of Josh being the lead. I think Transformers fiction needs a civilian everyman protagonist to contrast with the warring robot factions. I'd rather have a civilian who can help the Autobots, like Cade, be the main human protagonist. I will miss Mark, that's for sure, but also open to what the future brings.

Have Josh as a major support to the main human lead? Sure. No problem there.

This, above all else, is what I believe should have happened after DOTM. He was all set up to take over the role and everything - even age him up a bit so his daughter could play a role.

Instead we get all that bullshit about some high school dropout in Texas who is a worse liability than Energon's kicker.

Why did Wahlberg have to get in shape to play a civilian? He didn't have to.

Anyway, if Cade has to make way for new humans to encounter Transformers, I don't really mind.

Plus it makes in-universe sense. Theres no civilan children being drawn into war, the Military can finally make up with the Autobots, and like you said his daughter could play a role. I have no probs with Josh either, he usually always does a good job as Lennox.
