The TFWiki tweeted something interesting this morning: Hascon Trademark Filing. (For those w/out Twitter: Here) Is this the Botcon/Joecon replacement?
This could be along the lines of what some of us have been theorizing could happen. That is, one general Hasbro-themed convention celebrating all of its properties including TF, Joe, My Little Pony, etc, as opposed to focusing on a single product line. This would benefit Hasbro as far as being able to host a more inclusive experience. Naturally, this is all just speculation until we hear something official.
I thought someone found this a few months ago, and it was revealed this was for international conventions, or was that different?
I can see it being an all-properties convention. Transformers, GIJoe, MLP, etc. All under one house. Not sure if that will be a good thing or a bad thing. In concept, it could be awesome. Logistically, it might be a nightmare...
That has got to be the absolute worst name for a convention I have ever heard. If this turns out to be a thing, I'm guessing this is a shared convention with all of Hasbro's other brands. I'm sure that one guy that always comes to BotCon dressed as Rainbow Dash and asks for a MLP convention and likewise the fat guy who always asks for a Jem convention will both be very happy. As will the couple dozen GI Joe fans who don't work at FunPub. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't limited to toy properties. I bet there will be exclusive versions of board games and stuff at the Hasbro store.
looks to me like it might be a general Hasbro Product convention. rather than a transformers specific one. ewwwww this means we have to share our con with.....*shudder*......Bronies.
might make it a lot more attractive for families though since there should be even more kid oriented stuff.
Ugh, so the main TF specific con is being replaced by what's likely to be a con for everything Hasbro, with things like G.I.Joe, and all those other brands they can never seem to revive, and I have no interest in. Great, so much for a good BotCon replacement. GOOD LORD!!! I forgot about them. MLP will probably overshadow TF. Not to mention, I'd probably run into my brother.
This was my thought too and most likely where Has is going. It makes the most sense. I'm curious if they will do two shows since there was one for Joe and one for TF's or just keep it to one big one??? Then, I'd be curious to see if this has any impact on SDCC and NJCC too because that means Has has to come up with more exclusives to offer across the board i.e. Joe, TF, MLP, Marvel, SW. Time will tell....
Not too surprised. I heard someone float this idea a couple weeks back and it makes a lot of sense. Why devote an entire convention to just one brand when you could have a massive show based on your whole product line. The main thing, though, is that I really, really really want there slogan to be "I can Hascon." Preferably accompanied by a cat photo.
Yeah sounds like the all brands convention theory may be coming true. Not sure how that well it'll work, but time will tell. Though the name could use some work, maybe it's just me but "Hascon" doesn't have the same ring to it as "Botcon" did.
If they did that, I would feel more inclined to go. Cats heal all pains (other than the ones they cause).
Can I haz con? Seriously though, I'm concerned a convention schedule where panel times are split up with things I may not necessarily be interested in. However, if we get more Joe/TF crossovers, that would be pretty cool.
Can't say I'm the biggest fan of a convention for Hasbro brands. I would likely go to the first one, or just one in general, to see it. I have zero interest in Joe or MLP, however.
On one hand, a Hasbro-run convention could mean cheaper, affordable exclusives (no more 400 dollar boxes!), but then again, it could mean poor quality exclusives (knights of Unicron, or the current platinum range, anyone?). It will almost certainly spell the end for third parties, which will limit the interest from most/hard core TF fans. If that happens, I suspect the exclusives will be bought online mainly (either directly from Hasbro, or via scalpers), with an unofficial convention taking up the slack from Botcon.
I love this idea. Yes please. Yep. BotCon was a perfect name. Maybe they will run sub-conventions, like BotCon, within Hascon itself? One can only hope.
