Official images just make want this even more. Bravo Hasbro, you won me over.

 

I can accept this because if the fact Ill keep him combined, but lightspeed looks damn ugly. Scrounge is whats really selling it for me. Strafe is within expectation. Not great, but better than it could have been. Everyone else looks great though.

 

You know, if I didn't know any better I wouldn't even be able to tell that Lightspeed is supposed to be Lightspeed. I would've assumed it was just some weird Platinum repaint of Streetwise.


It's so painful that they had to pack in Scrounge with this mess.

 

Hasbro: Bad color layout but body part layout is a match, no new headsculpt
Takara: Color layout is fine, but bot mode doesn't fit. Headsculpt is too square, but at least he has a face
Man, NOBODY wants to do Nosecone's bot mode right...

Strafe looks weird in both forms.

Streetwise doesn't really work at all for Lightguy

All in all, the only one that Hasbro wins on is Afterburner being orange.

 

I wonder if I can turn this guy (Nosecone) into an Autobot tank. And Lightspeed into some sort of emergency response vehicle, kinda like the Italian Police had that Lamborghini.

 

I'll be getting this version. Yeah, Takara has a better Scattorshot, but 3P has me covered, and I prefer Hasbro's take on the limb-bots. Plus, Scrounge is included. That's an amazing deal.

 

I think this Strafe is looking a lot better myself. Thoughts?

 

Depends. One looks like a fighter jet, this one looks like a bomber/ground attack jet. Both look good.

 

The alt mode looks worse because it has the same problem the Aerialbots have in that all the entire robot undercarriage is visible. And the robot mode is less accurate than Takara's.

 

Taks Strafe and Nosecone seem to work much better for Topspin and Twintwist, at least for me, while Hasbro's Nosecone isn't the best, a simple head upgrade will undoubtedly be coming, same with Lightspeed, Strafe however i absolutely adore, just wish his visor was blue, which can easily be changed.

 

So.... anyone getting the set wanna sell me their Scrounge for a reasonable price? Pretty please?

I'd grudgingly accept this as Computron if Takara's version wasn't just so utterly superior in every single way.

I'll have to keep an eye out and hopefully catch this set on sale. The hands/feet, Scrounge, and Strafe kind of make this worth double dipping for. Probably ebay the bits from each set I don't want. We'll see. Strafe's alt mode just looks a tad closer to the toy I had and it's pulling me.

I wonder how hard it would be to paint up CW lightspeed as Sideswipe? I have this weird need to have as many of the car bots as I can in CW iterations.

Neither Afterburner looks right, really, so I'd probably need to get both in hand and decide. Without the fat tires, it just looks like a motorcycle with a weird windshield

The G2 boxsets are now going for +$80 on Amazon, so maybe a few months out after release this set could do the same.

Curious why Nosecone is shown with his drill facing backwords when Botcon Ramhorn did the same thing but was intended to point forward.

 

I think the right way is like Ramhorn had. The back of the tank kinda looks like a shovel in a sense.
