I'm a big fan of the Minimus Ambus angle, but I'm glad to see a Magnus that's a white Optimus in power armor.

 

Urgh was kinda interested in this but those proportions are horrendously awful. He looks like he has legs stuck inside cardboard boxes and giant cardboard boxes stuck on to his shoulders. And with a neck that thin his head looks like its floating above his torso. All the detailing looks dull and lame, the face sculpt is really bad and the thighs are hilariously small. What the heck happened.

This thing is gonna cost what 900 - 1200 dollars? for that kind of money I'd expect way way better. Why didn't they just do the mp design, take away the butt flap, shrink the limb width a little and bam, perfect high grade g1 magnus. The optimus was basically that, so whyyyyy.

 

Looks like it will come with 2 armor sets - the white Optimus Armor and the Ultra Magnus armor. From the way this looks, and from owning UM-01 and knowing how it works, I'm betting that the Ultra Magnus armor attaches directly to the skeleton and not over the white Optimus parts.

 

This awesome, but I'll believe it when I see it come out. At the same time they have the other company who is doing an IDW 18" Prime. Here is the link

G1 "The Transformers" cartoon Megatron is the guy who could really use a non-transforming MP-sized figure, but still not done yet.

 

This looks interesting, so let's see this in color already! Besides the price, my only complaint is that the eyes look too small and not enough like aviators. I'll never buy this pricey beauty, but I am anxious to see a full gallery of pics when Ulti-Magnus does finally come out.

The Masterpiece, though cartoon-accurate, is very "smooth" & plain, by comparison. The detail on this is impressive, since I prefer etched panel lines instead of numerous, unnecessary, raised "greebles". Overall, the proportions do seem a bit off, but I'll reserve judgement until the final production version is properly photographed.

The MP Magnus will have to suffice, since this will be more than my wallet can endure, but I wonder if Takara will eventually re-paint their MP into Diaclone colors, or if Hasbro will ever issue him, here in the U.S., in his old, brighter, G1-toy palette? I would really enjoy having those!

I'm a Transformers collector as well as a Statue collector. I have Ultimetal Prime, and love the quality of him. Yes he cant transform, but is very articulated for such a large piece.

I wish they would release Megatron first instead of Magnus. I'm glad they are moving forward with this version of Magnus instead of the plain white repaint of Prime that was shown in 2014.

I also noticed that this model number is UM-03 which was actually reserved for Megatron back in 2014.

As for an imported price of around 1000 US, and if you are a Sideshow/ Prime 1 / Iron Studios / XM Studios / Imaginarium Art collector you already are custom to paying high dollars from 400-2000 for a single piece. Its no different than buying ToyWorld Devy for 600. These are all pieces of art in a sense.

Anyway cant wait to get this piece. Just waiting for actual Pre order now.

 

I suspect this will cost at least 50% more than OP did given the added parts... having said that, is this set coming out before UM-02?

 

I'd agree with you, but seeing how chunky the legs and arms are, they could just snap over the armor. But your theory makes more sense as the magnets would be on the insides of the magnus armor.

I don't like the face sculpt. Looks off. And I was hoping for more reveals on Megatron first. Hope he doesn't get pushed back in favor of Magnus.

 

I'm a MP guy and the MP UltraMagnus is way too big for my tastes, and the Generations one is too small. If this was where I need him to be in scale with MP-10, I'd bite, but I think it's gonna be way bigger than that.

Lol......ya, you better do your homework properly. If you think MP Magnus is way too big, then this fig is NOT for you. Doesn't even fit with the MP line man. Also, I highly doubt you'd drop $1000+ US on this.

 

Yeah on the 50% higher price, $1399 is my guess. Might end up 1599, this is Fewture after all. He's going to be humongous too. Start saving now, you only have 3 years till release.

 

I wonder if there's gonna be 10 variations of "I AM ULTRA MAGNUS". He doesn't really have any memorable quotes.

 

I hope they continue this line of figures, and make other characters as well.
