    Alright! The machine awakens!

Can't wait for the always fun pre-movie speculation period. :D

    That's always my favorite part.

I just can't, can't, can't get excited about Transformers movies.
I've been burned by four of them.

An animated prequel is something fans have asked for so that's a positive. I guess that's really the only practical way to go that makes a huge amount of sense as far as an expanded universe goes.

I did wonder how they'd approach it as I can appreciate how the general audience might not be able to easily separate multiple movies about different Transformers or groups and would simply see them all as linear sequels, as opposed to the Marvel or DC universes where the characters are very distinct in not just who they are but what they are too.

Interesting to hear about the Prequel being Animated but then again I can see why they're doing it that way so that way they won't have to worry about the animation being as expensive as the regular live action movies.

As for Goldsman writing TF5 well Batman and Robin happened two decades ago so I'm pretty sure he knows now how strongly disliked the movie is and he does have a decent track record with other movies so I'll wait and see how it'll turn out when it comes out.

He is without question one of the worst writers in all of Hollywood. But at this point it's just adding more garbage to the heap, so not worth caring about either way.

Is this also a confirmation that Bay is returning as director?

One of the worst writers paired with one of the worst directors. I didn't think another Transformers movie could be any worse then AOE, I stand corrected.

I'm kind of hoping this next one does poorly, forcing Hasbro and Paramount to cut the apron strings with Bay, and give someone else a chance to feature the Transformers as they should be featured.

Needless to say, I won't be wasting money on a movie ticket, or the inevitable onslaught of T5 toys. :)

    More for me! :D

    The negativity here is intense.

Gonna take something a lot worse than this to lower my hopes.

While I would love to have a director who wants to feature the Transformers as they should be featured, I'd settle for a director who just doesn't want to make every single character an idiot.

Ehhh, he's solidly middle of the road. Some movies sort of good, some bad.

The real Problem is that Bay is back and will be telling him what to do.

This was probably why the original movie's writers suddenly were too busy to keep going even though they had time to run TFPrime.

When you're boss tells you to write farting, humping, racist robots- there's only so much you can do with that.

Now if we had a really good director here, I'd be a little more concerned about Goldman's presence possibly diminishing the movie. But 5 movies in we know exactly what we're getting and the bar has been set low. It's possible Goldman might even manage to improve things. (not holding my breath- but he has done some good work)

I'm more disapointed by no mention (so far) of other live action spin off movies (not directed by Bay). I thought that was happening, and that was where I dared to hope we might actually see meaningful improvement.

BTW- has Bay anounced yet that this movie will be darker and that he won't come back for another? :D

See, it was all smoke and mirrors, which was obvious from the get go. This will just be more of the same. It's going to be a long while until we get a good TF movie with Hasbro owning the brand.

And if the trend continues I'll be satisfied. I know I'm one of the very last of the vocal minority that thoroughly enjoys these films, and dammit, I'll go down with the ship if need be.

they are doing spin off, with that we are getting movies without Bay, i doubt Bay will direct the animated Cybertron prequel they are doing.
