Looks like we have our first Target Exclusive which is a rereleased set of 1-Step changers, with a special edition Optimus figure. Saw this set at a Target in Pleasant Hill, CA.

How creative of them. Lol the same idea as the Age of Extinction pack. That's still at my local targets.

Truthfully, the price isn't HORRIBLE (you're basically getting one figure free), but, it's still One Step figures.

Though, unless Hasbro reveals something next week, this might be the only place to get the RiD One Step Optimus Prime (at least for now)

Hasbro: "Oh hey, I know...let's take all of the One-Step's nobody is buying and shove them in a giant expensive gift set like that AoE one that nobody is buying."

    Target: "Okay thanks I guess?"

I wonder if this new set shares the same DPCI as the AoE set, which could explain why it is only NOW showing up (I saw a LOT of the AoE set last time I was at Target)

I hope this one means the AOE one goes on clearence. I'd prefer this one (due to the characters) but tbh I just want some One Steps! They're neat as hell.

AOE: Store Item Number (DPCI): 087-06-0817
    RID: Item # 087-06-0817.

    Ayup.

Also explains why they used the wrong image for the Cartwheel listing.

i haven't followed RID much (no interest) but seems to me like the 3/5 step changers would be so much better in a package like this... the 1-steppers just seem totally unappealing.

Remember when they did multi-packs with Deluxes and Voyagers?

    Those were the days.

If anything it means the opposite. The AoE set has the same DPCI as the RiD one. Clearancing the one would involve clearancing the other.

If I can get it for the $24 with free shipping I got the AoE for, I might pick it up as a gift. My boys love the AoE One Step Changers. I even picked up Prowl and Strafe as early Christmas presents for them -- mostly so Strafe can join with Grimlock and Slug, heh.

Oh no, not another one of these sets to take up lots of space and never sell. These toys look terrible for the price.

Nice marketing ploy to get kids/fans to buy Optimus. They make you buy 5 other shelf warmers too. Pffft!

We may be getting close to AoE Multipacks if Target gets desperate enough to clear out their Snarls and Lockdowns.

Because right now they're plan is to raise the price to $17.99, which seems counter-productive to that cause.
