War for Cybertron 2 in 2012

war-for-cybertron-2
One small bit of news that came from the Hasbro Investor Day event for November 2010 which I think needs some singled out attention -

War for Cybertron 2 was mentioned as a go for 2012.

While we all thought and hoped it would happen, until now we had no official word. Things could still change, and this could just have been a forward looking statement about things that are very possible, but not concrete by folks at Hasbro while they talked up their projects to investors. However, it is great news to fans of the first game, and we are all happy to hear it.

First one was a fun single player game, but the biggest load of console-ported crap I've ever played in pc multiplayer. I'll not buy it.

I wonder what the story could be about. The Autobots clean up cybertron further before rolling to Earth? Perhaps the story takes place on Earth the whole time? Part of the uniqueness of the first game was that it was telling a story not really told in any other fiction before. It also allowed for the environments to be proportional to the robots. I wonder what they can do with a sequel, and where it can go.

Either way, I loved the first game and look forward to more!

awesome news, can't wait to play it

Awesome stuff.

2012, guess we really do have to suffer another movie game

Still, good news if they can get their shit together with the online stuff this time.
tfmad2010
Sweet, but I hope they make it so you can do rolls . It would be epic missing shots.

I think the should would basically be the build up before crashing on Earth .

Well, Optimus Prime and Megatron still haven't actually MET each other on-screen, which was a big letdown with WFC. It was supposed to tell the story of how Optimus and Megatron became enemies, but it did no such thing. The closest they got to interacting was a "Megatron-face shaped chunk of metal" talking smack to Prime while he fought off a few waves of drones.

I hope they don't shoe horn it to fit in with TF Prime at Hasbro's insistence, and instead are allowed to continue it as they want. Regardless though, I can't wait for it.
Mechafire
I'm actually really excited. The first game definitely has flaws, but I still enjoyed it. I guess this means the possibility of more figures as well.
Sledgehammer
Like I pointed out in the Hasbro Investor thread, being Activision-published, WFC was virtually guaranteed a sequel (given CEO Bobby Kotick's perspective on flogging their properties like a dead horse). Of course, said outlook means diddly-squat unless the people who own the property give it their blessing, which pretty much cements WFC2 as being underway, just unannounced.

Five'll get you ten there'll be a teaser trailer or some such around E3 next year.
DethPike
Oh please please please be "War for Earth" with some modern car and jet modes and let us rip apart a U.S. city or something.... I wish I wish I wish...
Rigas
Im happy the game did well enough to warrant a sequel, also this means more WFC toys! hopefully.
Embryoyo
AWESOME! Still play the WFC now and then. If 2 is as good as the first or better I will be happy. This is great news, aaaaaaaaaaaand now back to Black Ops...
SamiWCP
I guess eventually I'll have to start playing my first WFC game on Xbox before that one comes out..

I'll take that bet.
deliciouspeter
I for one, hope that there is some variety in the environments and enemies. They basically reskinned the same enemies on each side. Both sides have drone cloakers, brutes with sheilds, jets and giant tanks that look and act exactly the same?

Overall though, single player was fun for a while, but if it's just more fighting on Cybertron, I don't know what they could do to keep it interesting.
Nemesis Predaking
Well I can't say I'm shocked, I will however be shocked if this see's a release on PC.
I for one will not be buying or playing this.
I will not support Highmoon or Activision because of the non-existence support for PC users with WFC.

I second this.

Unless they have better support for multiplayer this time around, I will have to skip. Mulitplayer offered so much replay value to the game, but all the connection to host errors etc... that were never addressed by them, this issue was reported across platforms and it seemed like the developer did not care.
Megatronwp38
Hmm, I still have to get the 1st one. LOL
Autobotknight08
Well most of the civilans have left and the planet was still in working condition. WFC 2 could be about the wait for the building of the ark and resources all dired up. Forcing players to make energon runs and stuff. The final battle is the Megatron vs. Optimus battle on the ark right before it crashes on earth. Since everyone keeps talking about how there was no Megs vs. Ops in the first game.
AutobotSkids
Yes! I Can't wait! I hope High Moon is still developing the game, If they learn from their mistakes this game could be fantastic!
Rexidus
SHAWING!

This is news I was eagerly awaiting. I played the HELL out of the first one and will do so again for the sequel.

There is tons of room for stories where the first one ended. I don't want to go to Earth. Earth is boring and I've been there for almost 30 years. Let me explore Cybertron more.

Being this game was developed by a company that loved the IP and games I have high hopes that they will resolve the issues that the first one had that people won't stop complaining about.

And I really, really hope more toys get released. Those figures made me start buying Transformers again after a decade of not buying them.

Transform and roll out!
General Magnus
Still havenīt played the first one yet. Itīs still fucking expensive.
harry543
Love the first game, and im actually happy to hear that they will be taking thier time to make the second, hopefully it will be longer
Rotorstorm
split screen multiplayer this time please. If Left for dead and halo can manage it there's no reason not to.
Agent Adam
Hopefully the single player is twice as long.. WFC mainly disappointed me with its campaign length.
Grimwing
Really pleased to read this. To bad I have to buy a Nintendo 3DS for the dark of the moon portable game, but if they make another portable war for cybertron game for 3DS it should be way better as they appeared to really be pushing the DS graphics with the first War.

As for the major console releases. Its going to be on cybertron, the question is at what point in cybertrons timeline will it take place. I want some wreckers. Let me play as Roadbuster, Impactor, and Whirl in a campaign against Straxus. Then move into a Dark age of Shockwaves drones crushing Autobot Resistance for millennia. Perhaps a new story similar with what I expect dark of the moon will do. Having shockwave take command of the decepticons and putting megatron on trial for his failure.

The multiplayer needs more modern maps, less of this symetrical "quake" stylings and fewer claustrophobic arenas.

Scientists could use better rewards for healing, and melee is overpowered.
Soldiers have really lame abilities outside of whirlwind.

Scouts could use some more interesting tools. I find cloak a little boring, its almost like the master of disguise deal with the scientists. Though that only tends to get one kill before the other team starts watching for your name.
Eric
I just hope it has better multiplayer and host migration. Or better yet, have a type of multiplayer game where you race against other Transformers in vehicle mode, ala Mario Kart.

I can dream, can't I?
Nyarlahotep
I got offered a contract gig to work on this, too bad I've already got a salary job I couldn't give up. I really wanted to help out on this
Slain
My girlfriend is gonna hate me...

Maybe I should get her a copy as well
guard convoy
so i guess this is gonna get its own section soon haha it felt like we just got here

if they don't fix the server issues, or at least ADDRESS OR ACKNOWLEDGE IT!, my hopes for this game are low, i'll still get it, but if we got the same problems as the first one, well, that is gonna suck
Deadend
If they release it for pc, I hope they include the first game DLC for the first game with it. That'd be a nice thank you for the pc owners who got screwed by that.
SPLIT LIP
I hope they fix the online issues.
einis
wow.that's awesome!can't wait for it
SteelMan296
This is awesome news, I loved WfC and really can't wait for the second one, as to story wise, they could go anywhere with this one because I'm pretty sure they didn't just directly head to earth, as far as I'm aware is that they didn't mean to land on earth, so for all we know they could land on planet junk! and give us another awesome Wreck-Gar figure! Now dare to be stupid!

A thousand times this.

What is 100% needed is:
- Better online, I've never seen another game lag as horribly or have as many connection problems as this.
- Host Migration, not having it in 2010 is inexcusable, especially in something like Escalation.

Stuff I'd be happy if they added:
- Letting us use all the characters in the campaign, not limiting us to the same 3 for 3/5 levels would be great but not 100% needed.
- Every character in Escalation needs a voice. Not giving them a voice or using generics from campaign just looks lazy and unprofessional.

WFC had a ton of potential, but the amount of lag and connection issues really put a downer on the experience.
Kaijumaster
May be a moot point since It's a second game, but a little more BACKstory would be appreciated, I didn't read Exodus so I was a tad lost on this iterations specifics.
Valsion
As long as its on PC and has at least as good multiplayer as the first WFC has, I'll get it
Robcbh
Any reason they decide making a 2nd game, before even making the first one playable in MP? Theres no way this game is ganna bank as much as the first one. They have had their name dragged through the mud with all the glitches of the first.
Poontang Bot
IF I CAN BE SERIOUS FOR A MOMENT... SPLENDID.
I trust the game design team to start from scratch. This is based on the deadline. I'm by no means an expert, but I have seen sequels come out in mere months after the original game. A year dev time could mean great things.
Cyber-Scream
2012 seems like forever away, but I'm still excited for it. I just hope they fix the issues from WFC 1.
theestampede
I'll play it. Hoping for much more expanded single player. It would be pretty cool to have a map system like mass effect so you could travel around the galaxy landing on different planets, before eventually landing on earth at the end. Going to different planets would let the artists go crazy and come up with some crazy visuals, not to mention a lot of variation between levels.

Other than that I'm really hoping for split screen co-op and versus, that was one of my biggest dissapointments with the last game
Wheeljack94
wheeljack, tracks, ravage, and others better be in it. maybe a cameo from alpha trion or A LITTLE backround on OP, alpha trion, & elia-1 would be nice. or maybe have the end of the game be a rendishon (spelled wrong) of the frist transformers episode from 1984. just sayin
Bahamut Prime
Hot damn!

1000th post - double hot damn!
Johnator
I loved the first one and look forward to playing the second. GREAT news!
Liselotte
if they give a crap about PC gamers, then ill consider this. feel like wasted my $$ on the PC version where they don't give a crap about.
