Transformers: The Game Sells Well Over 3 Million Copies TF-Gamescreen
Thanks to an article by Next-gen.biz, TFW2005 has learned that only covering sales figures from North American and Western Europe alone, Transformers: The Game has sold over 3.3 Million copies. This includes each console that it was released on, but doesn't even include Australia or the Asian markets, so the TF:TG was apparently quite successful. yeah, but if you beat it, you can only come back as Bumblebee or Prime. But if you fail it, and save, you can drive around to your heart's content.

Yeah, but who really wants to?

And there is no shame in that.

The game was pure crap. Sold mine before even finishing it.

I clear the first 3 points and head to the next one, only to find it was inside the base of a skyscraper, with no way to get at it. Time ran out on me and many swear words ensued. Tried it again, and the very same thing happened again. At that point I snatched the disc out of my 360, slammed into the case, and took it to the store and traded it in towards a Halo 3 preorder. Good riddance to bad games.
That's because you have to climb to the top of said skyscraper to end the mission, King-Kong style, though there's no indication you need to. Sucks, I know, but... Gamefaqs.com is your friend.

Anyways, I've kept mine. I'll never play the missions in the downtown environment again-- waaay too annoying-- but I thoroughly enjoyed the earlier missions, and the entirety of the DS games.

So let me get this straight: The Armada game, considered the best Transformers game (and a good game in its own right), was unsuccessful at retail according to Atari, yet this rushjob sells 3.3 million copies?

No justice in the world.
tikgnat:
Thats because 'Transformers Armada: Prelude to Energon' was a game based on a toyline. It didn't help that the game was also late, and came out during Energon.

Transformers: The Movie was based on the biggest (was it the biggest?) movie of 2007. So yeah, totally not fair. It would have been nice if there was a reference to the Armada game in the movie game, seeing as both are Hasbro licence products but hey.

Can you imagine in 20 years time all these kids are going to be in their 30's going on about how great the retro movie game was. I'll have to produce my old old PS2 Armada game and saw this was the pinnicle of TF gaming!
REDLINE:
in twenty years, I hope that is NOT the pinnacle of TF video games.

Indeed - its games like this that proves to game developers they can rush out poor quality games and still make a killing - so long as they slap a movie tie in on it. There are some good games around, but the advent of high end graphics seems to have taken the focus away from gameplay.

There are games that were developed for systems like the amiga and atari ST (and dare I say it - the sinclair spectrum and C64) that would p#$$ all over this game in terms of gameplay, replay factor and pure enjoyment.

I was thoroughly disappointed with this game. I got if for the PS2 and was so stoked when I chucked it in. Went straight for the Autobot campaign, loaded up the mission and the first thing I said was "WTF?".

The controls were so sloppy, especially the driving controls...which is pretty bad considering how much of the game was based on driving! The handbrake was next to useless and cornering was such a pain.

The weapons were a complete waste of time to use, not to mention looking completely retarded...especially the G1 version of Prime and Megs. G1 Prime's transformation was pretty dumb looking too, as was Movie Prime's Leap of Joy every frigging time he transformed.

Another thing that annoyed me to no end were the super-attacks that every 'bot and 'con had when you didn't play as them, such as Barricade's whirly hand of doom and Bumblebee's EMP blast. Why you couldn't pull that off when you played as them was beyond me.

The only good parts to the game were, for the most part, the transformations looked good and the Tranformers themselves were pretty decent looking. I especially was impressed with the chrome look on Prime.

I despised the ridiculous time limits and area limits in every freaking mission. And some of the mission goals were really lame.

The Armada and Takara games were so much better than this lousy excuse for a game, and that's despite the fact I almost snapped the Takara game's disc in half on many occassions out of frustration.

Glad I only paid about 2 US for it.
Fort Max:
That popular huh, I wonder if they'll repeat the formula next year...
