Transformers 2 Video Game Details, Possible Details Regarding Broad Transformers 2 Plot t2
A member of the Neo GAF forums has posted details regarding several upcoming video games, including Transformers 2, that were leaked from a marketing site. Regarding the game play, the listing describes the game as:

A new Transformation system gives you more controlled detail control as you instantly switch between Robot, Weapon, and Vehicle modes at any time to drive, fly, fight, and shoot your way through gripping levels. Then make your choice online as you go head to head with friends in multiplayer battle zones.

The rest of the information can be considered spoilers for the sequel, so click the Discuss button to see the full detail description.

Shipley:
Included in a thread from Neo GAF with literally tons of info about new games leaked from a marketing site comes a blurb about the next TF movie game from Activision

Doesn't say much more than the first game's description, but does include the all important "ONLINE MULTIPLAYER"
Hopefully the combat will be more visceral and deserving of a true online game.
Original thread: Xbox 360 SUPER LEAK DAY - Miitoos, Guitar Hero, Lips, Forza3, ActivisLOL

TF2 Set report w/ video
Master Fwiffo:
Well, at least it confirmed Starscream.
Dirge121:
Online Multiplayer! YES!
I cannot wait for this. Give me co-op story mode or online team-deathmatch/free-for-all.

It also seems there will be 2 versions for the DS again. I look forward to owning 3 copies of the TF2 game aswell
Spartan Prime:
Hopefully you can be the cool characters for more than a no-stops-allowed 2 minute mission, a la Jazz and Ironhide in the first movie game.

technically, if you fail their missions, you can play as them as long as you want as long as you don't want to advance the story.

The one thing I want them to add, first and foremost is better transformations. Everyone jumps into the air when they transform, which is fine for a driving transformation, but just standing there, geeking out over transforming, it just looks silly to see Optimus transform into robot mode and jump 30 feet into the air while doing it.
Beastbot X:
Looks like roughly the same game plan as the first TF Movie game, but with multiplayer, including 2 different DS games.

Yep, agreed.
Even the DS games had it right. You had animations for transforming when moving and different ones for transforming when standing still. Plus you could transform in mid jump. Unlike the main console versions.

That annoying jumping pose Optimus did every time he transformed to robot mode looked so stupid.

Some even had four. The 'Shockwave' model had standing/running, jumping, firing (whilst running/standing), firing (whilst jumping)
Soundwave84:
yay multiplayer your all going down muahhahaha
Velcrohead:
Online multiplayer FTW. Screw the missions, I have some friends that need their asses whupped.
Ravenxl7:
Interesting. The online multiplayer doesn't interest me at all. At least they're still offering it for the PS2. Here's hoping that there's some kind of regular multiplayer feature.
Admiral Thrawn:
no one notice the part where it talks about transforming into a weapon?

Target Masters are IN!!!!!
Beastbot X:
No, that's just what the first game called it when the TFs transformed one of their limbs into a weapon to fire at someone.
a person:
It seems like Starscream will be the main villain in TF2.
Brandon:
Online multiplayer?

Kick ass!
jazz4ever:
sounds just like the first one but more transformers 2-ish
doomtron:
oh yeah online multiplayer! when the time comes we have got to start a club here for this. i love transformer games animated movie i will buy them all ha ha ha ha ha! lol time to go to bed
Chaos Incarnate:
Wait... Robot, vehicle, and weapon modes?
Josh:
multi-player is definately a big plus

nothin like playin transformers with friends

but yeah, i'm intrigued to learn more about this "new transformation system" it talks about

sounds interesting!
optimus major:
man MORE DS games? SAWEET!!!!!!!!!!!! (those games are SO much fun)

and also....ONLINE PLAY FOR THE MOTHER F'IN WIN!!!!!!!!!!!

oh and this time for the wii.......FIX THE DAMN CAMERA....

i will probably end up with it on that consol since i got online capability on it....so at least make it enjoyable without the camera in 50 different places at once....hell allow classic and/or gamecube controller usage on the game and the camera problem will be solved.....

i am so going to kick all y'all's asses online...... .....seriously.....i will win
ANDROID PRIME:
dear god I hope the multiplayer is done well. we will finally get to battle eachother as transformers lol.
King of kings:
As long as the gameplay is better than the first game I'll be happy and yay for online multiplayer.
transmetal2dinobot:
if they take the first game's engine and tweak it, add some more varied gameplay and allow a bit more in the free roaming bit(also removal of impassable drones would help, damned dreadwings) it could be epic
Sledgehammer:
Please, please don't suffer from the usual movie tie-in curse of being totally crap.

Although I fully realise I'm more than likely wasting my breath. :\
Grimwing:
ps2 version again! Well I liked the first movie game a lot on the ps2.

It's epic and absolutely perfect as far as a movie tie in game could be. contrary to the opinions of game reviewers, granted being a fan pulls you into the story and you can take the "ridiculous" concepts as seriously as possible.

If animated's video game is on the ps2 as well that is four total transformer games for the platform!
webz:
bah, I want "LEGO Transformers: The Movie 1986" That would be AWESOME!
Cinemastique:
All the multiplayer in the world won't help if your only attacks are PUNCH, PUNCH again, and "pew! pew!"

Agreed on the transformations, but please, for the love of God, give us an interesting, FULLY DESTRUCTIBLE environment. I don't need GTA4 here, but at least something on par with HULK: ULTIMATE DESTRUCTION.

Something they could do would be stunt jumps or something to do when in vehicle mode. Not just an explorable environment, but an actual reason to explore it. In the first game, transforming was fun, but there was never any real in-game reason to do it.

And gameplay beyond "go to waypoint, punch drones..." would be sweet.
BustaJesse:
I loved the DS version, I can't wait.

QFT, gotta show my friends how bad I pwn at Transformers.
Eric:
ONLINE MULTIPLAYER!? OH FUCK YES!

There'd better be some sort of option where you make your own custom Transformer. I can't wait to slag any board members that ally themselves with the Decepticons.
Sso02V:
I wonder if the old game's drones will be back for mission filler, and if that means that the forklift and cement mixer drones will finally get figures.
clonemanager:
Whatever they said... I 'd wait a few weeks after the release to see if this is worth every penny I 'd pay... the First Movie TF game SUCKS.
Admiral Thrawn:
i just asked Roberto Orci for info on the "weapon" modes, and here's a link.

Takara_destron:
Souunds good, but then the first one was majorly disappointing (aside from the DS ones) so I'll wait and see.
Zaraxion1021:
It might work out IF they don't do anything like the first TF movie game that realy sucked a lot....They should add new moves and stuff instead of just transforming and punches that are always the same if it does have Multiplayer!

Regardless of how the game works, I accept your challenge and look forward to smashing your mechanical mishap into a million fragments.

Any word on if this game has been in development for a while? I'd hate to see another one rushed out in a year and being a total suckfest.
BumbleVeeNH:
Wow....surprised you guys didn't start complaining that no matter what you did or how bad you slammed boss's....projectiles did squat....and no more longarms's! Fix the camera and for god's sake would someone actually learn to code a driving sim?

P.S. if they're going to have wheeljack in the game as well as the movie, I want an upgrade station for your weapons!
knook:
The weapons in this game better must do more damage cuz in TF2 there was NO point in having missiles or bullets because the did fuck all. All they where good for was firing to keep the opponent paralysed while they defend then use the melee button to hurt the opponent

I've got the TF1 game on PS2 and PSP; I HATED the PSP version as I thought it sucked (hoaky controls, mediocre graphics, no freedom to play as the faction you want to play as, lame missions, lame transforming animations, not as many unlockables as was advertised, and the like), and I liked the PS2 version and thought it was pretty cool.

My thing is this: if they come out with this on PSP, please use the same development company as the PS2 version; the PSP version of the TF1 game didn't, and that's what may have contributed to the suckage, IMHO.

I'll also say this - Michael Bay, and Co (all his crew people, Hasbro, Dreamworks, etc.). seems like they're really busting their behinds to get TF2 done and oversee all associated media properties, and it makes my head spin the tremendous amount of stuff he and ALL of his crew and professional colleagues have to deal with, in the making of the films for this franchise, especially with the nutsos who gave him death threats and the extra that was thrown off a TF2 set (What the hell was that guy thinking? I would have LOVED to have been on that set with my Wife and 2-year old Daughter; too bad Bay ain't shooting in Cincinnati).

While I may not agree with everything Bay does, I have to tip my hat off to him and his crew in terms of being able to handle a huge load like that (especially those cats at ILM. Can you imagine how much overtime those guys get? I wonder how their paychecks look). WOW!!!!!!Can't wait to see the sequel and the videogame.

The extra guy didn't think, that was his problem. I post a lot on Don Murphy's message board, and that guy ((the extra)) has been messed up for as long as i can remember, going bat$#!^ crazy the second anyone disagreed with him.

Anyways, does Roberto mean Targetmasters or Artillery?
Dropshot:
I don't know how someone thought this could contain spoilers...
dinobotdude44:
i think this description implies that starscream will be the new decepticon leader! awesome!
knook:
I live in hope that SS has finally become leader. He did in G1 but it was kinda short lived

knook:

seeker311:
Funny that it says you can be Optimus or SS, and ignores being Megatron. Could this be a hint?
doomtron:
hoping for a g1 seeker skin to battle with
