Jagex Transformers Universe MMO Details and Images

Jagex, the creators of the upcoming Transformers Universe MMO sent us an update today. They wanted to recap and share the information and images about the project revealed at Botcon 2011.

Check out their details below. There are also some awesome images of Prowl, Barricade, the Decepticon Fighter and a couple background shots as well, which you can see by reading the full story.

For those who missed the news, here what was announced about the game at BotCon:
Hasbro and Jagex have joined forces to develop and publish a TRANSFORMERS MMO.

The title of the MMO will be TRANSFORMERS UNIVERSE.

TRANSFORMERS UNIVERSE will be an action orientated MMO.

In TRANSFORMERS UNIVERSE players will be able to create and play as their own AUTOBOT or DECEPTICON, designing and customising the character to fit their game play style, combat preferences and appearance.

After looking at the mechanics, the iconic TRANSFORMERS IP, and the TRANSFORMERS heritage Jagex distilled this into core themes which are present throughout the TRANSFORMERS universe: conflict, teamwork, and social regard (the AUTOBOTS caring for the humans)

TRANSFORMERS UNIVERSE sits within the “Prime” timeline, along with the book Exodus, the War for Cybertron games and the Prime cartoon.

The game will be released in 2012.

Hey sweet, Barricade is not as lanky as he looked on that cut out. He's not as stocky as he should be, but a lot better then what I thought at first.

No idea why all the Prowl love, he got a really goofy face and generic transformation, but THAT BIG BLUE DUDE is pure badass, it gets me stocked to know that you can look that good in game.

I actually tried recoloring the big "Decepticon Fighter" guy to see if it'd make him look less "Breakdown'ish".

I just realized that this game has a teaser attached to it. The concept art looks out of this world, but sadly the teaser was nothing but weak

No one does a teaser better than HMS.

Definitely seems like it's going to be a very interesting game. Not sure if I'll get it, but I'll wait to see how the gameplay looks. Though if I do get it, I might have to get a new computer, lol (the one I've got now can barely play Lego HP as it is).

The game's internet-browser based. I don't think it would be THAT hard for any computer to play.

The video of the character model animations looked pretty damn good for a game like this, to be honest. So I'm cautiously optimistic.

Also, I hope to god we see that Barricade design turned into a toy. I'd love to use it as a classics Barricade.

I'd be willing to bet that was actually a prerendered animation. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual game graphics are a tad lower rez.

I think you need to lower your expectations. This mmo will be run in your web browser. It will not be anywhere near as impressive as WoW in the graphics or the gameplay. I'm not saying it won't be awesome and fun, because no one has any idea yet, but it's probably for the best if you imagine it being more like Runescape than WoW. Better to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed right?

Holy shit, you get to make your own character? Like choose a gender, customize apperance and ablilities and pick any alt-mode?

In all seriousness, this is awesome news. I have always wondered what a Transformers MMO would be like, and now it looks like my dream is coming true. I can't wait to see if I can make some of my fan-characters in the game. The only thing is we have to wait until 2012, so we only get a year or so of play before the end of the world (then again, the Mayans could have been wrong).

Oh, and I guess the Prowl and Barricade models are cool too.
