i think that the G1 models look good but i am so use to the movie models now that i would rather see the movie models in the movie then the G1 Models

I think they move around a little clumsily. Also, Megatron's flying "transformation" doesn't look great either. It seems he has almost no control when flying. And, anyways, his flying ability should be standard...not something special. He looks like King Kong climbing those buildings for christ's sakes. | No control flying? Like any aircraft in this game?

I don't know. I haven't played it yet.

other than that... GREAT WORK GREAT NEWS HOOORRAAAY!! | Yea the camera's a bit wonky. I think the mind set is:
A: the camera's shaky from all of the destruction.
B: It might be they were trying to capture the feel of Micheal Bays directing methods of shaky camera.
Which either way, yea, it's an annoyance, but I can live with it.

Apart from that, the PS2 version has the faction symobls to collect, which is another good sign. | I have the PS2 version, Prime & Megatron are new models. Collect all the Autobot symbols for Prime & all the Decepticon symbols for Megatron. I've unlocked Prime, Megatron, Starscream & Robo-Vision Prime. I'm not sure how to unlock Jazz. I assume you have to collect all 100 cubes in each level. I'm trying to do that but I can only find 99 in most of the levels, that last one is next to impossible!
Shotoman:
(Edit) Yay! Noismaze beat me...oh well...
And on something of a tangent, does the Allspark-based title screen navigation remind anybody else of the Generation 2 cartoon?
Acteon:
Sadly the only true G1 game we'll get is the Japanese PS2 version (which is actually pretty fun!)
I think Megatron looks awesome, but it's too hard to tell if he's out of place due to the awful camerawork. Anyone trying to judge how real-life versions of classic designs would look in a movie from that footage clearly made their minds up before watching it - it tells you nothing either way.
I won't pick this game up until it hits clearance - does nothing for me so far.
Turnpike:
Looks pretty neat to me.. Would be odd for Mgs to transform in a gun and float around or something.. Mabey Screamer could swoop in and you would control him holding Megs or something..
Prime looks like a giant MP-01 toy driving around.. Kinda out of place..
And..
*waits until someone posts the obligatory "the G1 toy designs work in the movie, this is proof!" based on video game material.*
Oh look..
redsquadron:
It's a nice idea, but MEGATRON has far too many flat surfaces to be visually interesting to me.
PRIME is a bit better, but it still showcases how limited his movement is.
Prime crotch:
I find it amusing how his canon is a gatling gun.

ALRIGHT THAT'S IT.
I'm getting the game JUST to play as Prime+megs 1987olds442:
Damn this is awesome...I just might have to get this game now.

Anyway I think these look neat. I want to try it but I don't have a next gen system and I don't want to play on last gen hardware.
has to wait. Malaktha: Quote: |

Oh look.. | I'll be the first to say it's not proof it would work, nor is it proof against it working. what WOULDN'T work is just making 3d models of the g1 cartoon or toy characters and putting them in the movie. what WOULD work is some modifications on said designs it didn't HAVE to be such a drastic change but again it's done, we got what we got now I wish the friggin nyah nyah-ing would cease about it because until we see a REAL attempt at G1 in real life from filmakers it's a moot point. (those fan vids show it can be done prett well by amatuers but pros would do it even better) .
anyway it looks like more fun playing with these guys. nostalgia factor and all.

has to wait. | I recall many people wanting "straight ports" of G1. Even if they weren't gonna be 100%straight ports peole just wanted more articulation at the joints while keeping the boxy aesthetic look. It looks terrible here. This is my opinion and don't try to make it seem like i'm leading the charge against the "movie haters" here by pointing out year long debates. Your "see I told you so" comment holds no weight as you can see in my first post I said "Now I see why" which ishould tell you that it took me up untill now to fully sway my opinion on the G1 vs Movie Aesthetic hot button topic. This is the closest thing I've seen to having G1 bots in a real world setting and it looks terrible...
and just for the record I am a huge G1 fan. But the aesthetic is old and tired. Maybe one day people will read posts fully before having knee jerk reactions to them and using them as Exhibit A for their fight against "ranters" or "ravers".

I haven't gone to see it...was planning to watch with a few friends, unless it totally sucks... G1 fanboy, movie fanboy, any fanboy please provide the public feedback to me.
NOCV:
I unlocked G1 Megatron last night, and it was beautiful. The model itself seems very close to the Revoltech Megatron, which is fantastic. And Megs can fire while flying. It's so good.
He's got great detail and texture, and definitely would have worked in a movie. Don't judge by crappy pooptube videos, try seeing it on 46" of 1080i goodness.
I haven't unlocked Prime yet, but he's a poocee anyway.

I haven't unlocked Prime yet, but he's a poocee anyway. | I'll have to check it out HD style, I know it will look a lot better then. But to me, the classic look needed a rest.
cahenz:
I don't want to sound overly negative or anything, but I'm so so VERY glad I didn't invest money in this game. I realize Activision didn't have enough time to really pull off the greatest game, but that's no excuse. Poor control, repetitive game play and somewhat unimpressive graphics don't justify a $60 price tag. I bought The Darkness for the PS3 and think I came home with a much better game.
It's a shame too, because I really wanted to enjoy this game. I'm glad I read reviews and feedback here on the forum before buying it.
TransformerDude:
What are they for the ps2 version? i heard they are just skins is that true? If it is i regret buying it for ps2.
Radioactive Ravage:
Eh. If Megs transformed into a gun, how the hell would he move around. Better to just stick to the flying.
Prime looks okay.
Kaijumaster:
I collected all the autobot symbols and nothing happened, nothing under the G1 skins section either. what am I doing wrong?

I don't find the controls to be bad at all. Not quite as tight as they could have been, but seriously not bad. Now, the PSP one...that's another story. And as for the repetetive gameplay thing...well, that's kinda something that most action video games suffer from. While it's not the supremely-awesomly-lifechanng game of the century or anything of that nature, it is fun, and it does feel like Transformers, and that's all I needed in this thing. And on the PS2, I'm actually quite pleased with the graphics.

And on the PS2, I'm actually quite pleased with the graphics. | I probably ask too much out of video games. It's all about finances for me. I can afford to drop the cash on it, I just don't want to feel like I rewarded someone for making a so-so game that costs big cash to get.
It's annoying. I own a PS3, but to get this so-so game I would have to part with over $60. If I want to take the graphics downgrade to PS2 I could save some cash, but then you're thinking "Well, if I'm going to waste cash, I may as well invest in the more polished so-so game".
So instead I got the Darkness, which is really cool and so hard to play I want to smash stuff with my mighty fists. Shape shifting robots and blowing stuff up has got to be fun...for a minute. I dunno...beer is tasty.
Shotoman:
As always, I'd suggest to at least give it a rental. Some of my all-time favorite video games that I will never take out of my collection are games that I tried despite multiple people and reveiws saying they're sub-par or even downright bad. Never hurts to try for yourself. Then at least you'll know for sure.
buckmana:
Do we get this feature in the PC version?
Please say yes.
I'm a G1 fan and it would be cool to have Optimus Prime as the original version.
Mind you, I always thought the gun Megatron was lame. I mean, he needed other Decepticons to hold him when he transformed!
This is my favorite Megatron: Tank Megatron
Can you change the other characters too?

Thehog6929:
Yeah lucky you, I bought it first day and man was I mad...actually more sad than anything...you hit it on the head when you say just poorly done. Very half-assed. This premise could be the greatest game in history, but they bombed really bad. G1 Megatron is pretty sick though.
fernbern:
Personally, the 2003 game was more challenging. I unlocked all the cheats for the new game, and each mission is kinda lame. Too many of those "race here" or timed missions. I'd rather have a good fight, than race Barrricade to the next check point.
The G1 Megs is a big disappointment, at least on PS2. he just flies and that's all. No transformer action. And the Starscream and Jazz "repaints" are pitiful.
The only GOOD thing about the new game is that Frank Weller does the voice of Megatron. he may be older, but he still has the Megatron voice. Don't know why he failed the audition for the movie.

fernbern:
My opinion, Bonecrusher had the best fight scene in the movie. All 48 seconds. Wish the game let you play Bonecrusher, instead of "protecting" him. (Part of the Decepticon missions.)
Doug
giga-galvatron:
this is for what? xbox 360?
fernbern:
Better idea. Let's let Megatron take care of R Kelly. Megatron could make him "Believe I can Fly". (Hopefully far away.)
Bobby Lemain:
cool, I got a 100% finished savegame for the PC version and low-and-behold, Megatron was there! (in my opinion he looks like the best G1 skin out of the lot) too bad he doesnt transform into a giant floating gun lol
GMANIFESS:
G1 Megs handles a lot better then Movie Megs.
Movie Megs combos go all over the place. G1's are more precise.
Love using the cannon too!!!
