Forbes and mobile gaming related sites are reporting that Angry Birds: Transformers is now available for download in New Zealand and Finland with Canada and Australia set to follow soon afterwards.
This release is a “Soft Launch“; a growing trend where apps are released earlier than their worldwide release dates for publicity and testing purposes.
Currently, iOS users are the only users who can download it early, if they are living in the above mentioned countries. Download link: iTunes.
Forbes had this to say:
“The game starts with Optimus Prime (Red) and Bumblebee (Chuck) as they fight against the Eggbots created by Eggspark. During play, you tap the screen to shoot different targets and power up your transformation and special powers.
This builds on the kart racing of Angry Birds Go!, role-play action of Angry Birds Epic and the most recent projectile play in Angry Birds Stella. Adding this new mechanic may attract a new set of players to the franchise, as well as long in the tooth Transformers fans.
This is where Hasbro comes in:
“The game makes use of toys to unlock additional characters by placing them over the camera of the tablet or smartphone device. It’s the kind of approach popularized by Skylanders (and more recently Disney Infinity) and should make the game popular with children.”
Family Game TV has released a video of the first 25 minutes of the game. The gameplay footage reveals that this game is more of a Rail Shooter than an Endless Runner. Check it out, after the jump.

This actually looks like a pretty fun game.
Megastar
Looks better than I thought.
Shockwave81
I've been playing it throughout the weekend. I thought that some of the music had a 'Dicola-esque' vibe to it, and it turns out I was right (if Wikipedia is anything to go by). A really cool touch!
Yes, there are micro-transactions, but only necessary if you don't have a lot of patience. Otherwise it's going to require a lot of coin farming to progress/repair your TF's.

Free. Or freemium. Basically lots of stuff is locked with money but you can still get by most of the game without paying.
Megastar
I like the music in the trailer.
SpinalCord
It figures Transformers would be what dumbed-down Angry Birds with explosions… seriously, the Hasbro execs must think very poorly of the TF fans
shumworld
I thought the same thing too. The kids will love it!
