The new Transformers: War for Cybertron trailer has gone up on IGN! This awesome two minute long trailer does not show any in game footage yet, but provides a lead-in to the game's story, giving us our first glimpses of Megatron (with Energon Mace / Scepter weapon!), Bumblebee, Omega Supreme and Starscream in action, as well as extended footage of Optimus Prime. Those who have been following the various podcasts and interviews might remember a promise that certain characters who have not been used since Generation 1 will get some love and attention this time around, and the trailer delivers, with the return of the Decepticon mobile battlebase, Trypticon!
IGN has posted a blurb talking about the new Transformers War for Cybertron game. They state that a new full trailer will be released next week. They also posted a couple screens to tease the fact, including a new one of Megatron in action.
Gameinformer concludes their month long coverage of Transformers War for Cybertron today with a special edition podcast. The podcast kicks off with a piece of music from the game itself, and then leaps into a full hands-on first impressions preview of the game. Key points from the podcast include:
* The game is a 3rd person shooter, with gameplay like Gears of War. * Cover can be destroyed, fully destructable environments. * The backgrounds and backdrops will not be static. (Things will happen in the NPC world, such as energon being transported, machinery working, maybe even cameos). * Story missions and Co-op are confirmed--a team of at least three other characters is confirmed. There will also be both multiplayer and single player modes. * Three vehicle classes: Tanks, Jets and another unmentioned class. Depending on the classes and your abilities, the levels will be multi-tiered and have different paths. For jets, this means multiple vertical levels to explore. * All characters have two different time-based skills (e.g. Shield, invisibility, teleport, etc.). * Storyline is one story broken into two interlocking parts, Decepticon Campaign (first half) and the Autobot Campaign(last half). It is an origin story. * Second level is set to explain Starscream and Megatron's relationship. (The first level was previously confirmed as being the tale of the first meeting of Megatron and Starscream). * Many of the G1 actors are coming back to reprise their original roles. A formal announcement will be made at a later date in 2010; however, Peter Cullen is confirmed as Optimus Prime. * Hasbro has said this game is canon.
There is also a spoiler in the podcast revealing the nature of the final battle for the Decepticon side of the campaign. If you have been following the coverage so far you should have an idea of what this means, but we won't spoil it for you here.

Gameinformer has updated with the latest information on Transformers: War for Cybertron. The latest update focuses on Starscream, Megatron's lieutenant and Decepticon Air Commander. Gameinformer reports that the game will cover Starscream's motivation for seeking power among the Decepticons, and Megatron keeping such a blatantly treacherous character around. The article boasts that the Decepticon campaign's first mission will chronicle the first meeting between Starscream and Megatron, and that Starscream believes that neither Optimus Prime nor Megatron are keeping Cybertron's best interests in mind.

TFW2005 has received a new press release concerning the upcoming Transformers: War On Cybertron video game. The game, due for release in 2010, will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC, and Nintendo DS.
Transformers: War for Cybertron features two distinct storylines: the AUTOBOT campaign tells a story of heroism to save their home planet against overwhelming odds, and the DECEPTICON campaign tells a story of an unquenchable thirst for power to control the universe. For the first time in a TRANSFORMERS title, fans will be able to play the game with their friends through team-based online co-op, or go head to head in a variety of intense, online multiplayer game modes. The game features a sci-fi art style that introduces to fans the entire living, metallic world of CYBERTRON, as well as all-new visualizations of the iconic TRANSFORMERS characters in their original Cybertronian forms.

Word is spreading around the internetz about a new off-year video game based on the Transformers license, tentatively called Transformers: The War For Cybertron. The game is not based on any one generation or version of Transformers that has come before, however, from early concept art it looks like it has a very "War Within" style, with many pre-Earth Cybertronian modes of Generation 1 characters making an appearance.
The game is said to be a first-person over the shoulder shooter with Transformations included, along with a wide inter-changable weapon array and supporting cast members in each mission.
The game will be released by Activision, and they have let us know that a trailer will be up on GameTrailers later in the week, with more details to the various fan sites after that.
