541771_430662403695347_1428712229_n Mobage have teased their next event for their Transformers Legends Mobile Game on Facebook. It seems that the next event following on from Day of the Dinobots will be a Seeker theme event named "Robots in the Skies". The teaser art shows off Sunstorm, Skywarp and Thundercracker quite prominently, suggesting that they will be the three "boss" characters players will face off against over the course of the event - although Acid Storm is also lurking in the background, so anything is possible.

Transformers: Universe Developer Interview By Game Informer

Posted on 03-04-2013 at 11:16 PM by NIBMRatchet under Video Games
Universe2_1355378416 Jagex; developers of Transformers: Universe MOBA recently sat down with Game Informer for an interview.

It is clear from the interview that the game is undergoing some drastic changes from what we fans initially thought it to be. First, the game went from an MMORPG to an MOBA. Now, new information is regarding the character customization aspect of the upcoming game.

In what ways can you create and customize your character? Do you play a single Transformer, or multiple characters?

Horton: Full character customization like you see in MMORPG’s can’t really be all that varied for a car that has to transform into a robot smoothly and also perform as a game character flawlessly, making a Transformers character that performs its duty a challenge before you add any really worthwhile customization. Picking bits of headgear, tunic colors or adding body kits to a vehicle aren’t that straightforward in a robot-vehicle character. We have customization, but the ultimate dream of creating your own custom bot from a car of your choice is a massive undertaking that doesn’t really enhance the game that much. It’s not as cool when you compare it to having your own collection of purpose-built bots with different play-styles, handling, weaponry, and specialties. It’s in the Transformers brand DNA as a toy, something that captures your imagination as you take it on adventures, not to mention the collectability, having a cool selection of Transformers characters. Its game art imitating life.

Coupe: Absolutely – I think players will really enjoy learning more about the new characters that we’re introducing to the Transformers’ Universe. These are genuinely brand new characters that people won’t have encountered, all with their own abilities, weapons and personalities, some Bots compliment other characters, some don’t and players are going to have to learn which combinations work best together. You’ll also be able to add elements of personalization to the members of your squad, so you won’t be completely without character personalization. The most obvious version of this is the personalization seen within weapons, you’ll be able to adjust modules within these weapons to give you multiple combinations that will be unique to your bot.

Composer James Hannigan Talks Transformers Universe

Posted on 02-05-2013 at 12:04 PM by NIBMRatchet under Video Games
James-Hannigan-Transformers-Universe We do hope that none of you have forgotten about Transformers Universe. Development for this upcoming MOBA Game (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) is happening quietly and some of our 2005 Boards members may even be eligible for Beta Testing.

Breaking the silence, the Music Composer for Transformers Universe; James Hannigan has told Forbes some tidbits about what he did and what the game is like:

More importantly, are you a Transformers fan, at all?
Giant, battling transforming alien robots… what’s not to like? Most recently, I watched the original animated movie again and caught ‘Robots in Disguise’ along with season one of ‘Prime’. Very enjoyable and interesting to see how things have evolved over the years in the world of Transformers.

How would you describe the sound of Transformers Universe?
Some of the music is not a million miles away from the stylistic framework established for Transformers in general, but there’s also a move towards being a little harsher and grittier at times. Steve Lord, the Audio Director on Transformers Universe, wanted some tracks to have a grinding, almost mechanistic and robotic feel to them. But there’s quite a bit of orchestral music in there, too. We recorded a 72-piece orchestra for some of the early music going into the game, and there’ll be more orchestral production in the near future as composing and recording for Transformers Universe is an ongoing process. One of the interesting and refreshing things about this game is how episodic it is with new content getting planned for it all the time.

If you had to pick one track to represent the soundtrack, which would it be and why?
It’s difficult to single out any one track but I’d say that collectively the various themes will define the sound and set the tone for the game. I particularly like the Autobot Theme, which tries to capture an air of nobility and heroism, coupled with awesome firepower!

James Hannigan is an award-winning British film, television and video game composer who has composed music for various entries in the Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Command & Conquer and Red Alert series' of games. You can listen to some of his work by clicking on the YouTube links above.

Transformers Legends Mobile Game Event Harvest of the Insecticons

Posted on 12-21-2012 at 02:42 PM by Sol Fury under Video Games
540277_417217585015108_2117646442_n Mobage's Transformers Legends game is having a special week-long event. During the event, titled Harvest of the Insecticons, there are a whole bunch of special rewards for you to enjoy and new challenges to face you.

The stars of the event are the Insecticons. By participating in the event, they may show up in gameplay as random encounter bosses to challenge your nine-card fighting deck. They start out easy enough but soon ratchet up the strength.

To aid you along the way there are some pretty serious rewards being offered by the game including new silver and gold warrior medals, which let you draw new cards from the Spacebridge, plus the event boss Insecticons give out lots of points and items that are otherwise hard to acquire in game. There's also a ranking system in play - the higher your rank by the end of the event, the bigger the rewards, with the top ranked players getting sets of the Insecticons' new tier 3 cards, their weapons, and more. There's also some new cards to be acquired in general play, including new cards of Hound and Mirage in both modes.
