Unknown Classics Bumblebee Repaint - Glyph?

Over at ACToys this little gem popped up today ... a Classics Bumblebee repainted blue, resembling OTFCC 2003 Glyph.

But where is this figure going? Is it a Universe 3.0 release? Is it a Takaratomy Gentei exclusive figure? Is it some cheaply made, will-fall-apart-when-you-breathe-on-it knock off toy? Is it a random BotCon exclusive not part of the Generation 2 fiction (note: non-G2 Autobot symbol)? With the chrome hood it is assumed to be a Takaratomy type exclusive, as Hasbro shys away from using chrome on their toys.

Perhaps a Takara Tomy exclusive, Gentei, based on the chrome hood and spoiler. A Botcon exclusive would have had the G2 Autobot symbol.

edit - Actually no one over at ACToys knows what this is. One of them says its a KO but he's not entirely sure.

Interesting. The mold definitely looks nice in those colors, but it's hard to say where it might be coming from. The chrome makes me think Takara, but you never know, Hasbro might be getting back into it. If it's Hasbro's, and a part of the Generations line, I'll most likely get it. Though if it's Takara's, or one of this years Botcon exclusives (less likely, but it's possible), I'll pass.

It being a custom did come to mind, but honestly, it looks too clean to be one. Even the best made customs have something about them that gives them away.

Well, it looks all fine and good I suppose. If I had to guess, I'd guess that's a Classics Glyph figure. Maybe they're going to make that a BotCon attendee exclusive; G2 Glyph. The chrome is the added 'glare' right? Heh - highly unlikely. Anyways, I had mine repainted blue first - and I think mine's better. Tho if this is released it's a definite buy for ma duke's Bumblebee & BB recolor collection.

I gotta say this is pretty awesome and I'm 95% sure it's blue plastic not paint like it would be for a custom. Sadly it's most likely a Japanese release due to the chrome. I'd buy that mold in any color, from Hasbro for $12

It can't be a custom. The plastic looks like it was molded in that color. A dye job is possible, but it looks too clean and factory-like overall. It looks like it'll either be a Gentei exclusive or a Generations release.

This could be a Botcon exclusive, even if the Autobot symbol is not G2. The way the Botcon exclusive Timelines works, a Autobot team could of easily be part of the set of. I remember wondering how lasts years set was going to incorporate Scorch into the story..But it worked out quite well.

Last year's Razorclaw and Elita-1 had nothing to do with Wings of Honor. This could be part of a similar set.

I noticed the chrome rub on the back of the spoiler. It's either an early mock up of some Henkei release, or it's an upcoming KO. May have to violate my KO standards...

And for those who think it's not Hasbro's because of the chrome keep this in mind: They said that they're working on some VacMet tech to make it cheaper without making the plastic brittle and they showed it with Recon Ravage and maybe Generations Thrust.

A lot of people say that. But that was (I'm convinced) a special deal due to the anniversary. No anniversary this year = no "not aligned with this year's theme" toys.

How odd.

Silver chrome points on the front and spoiler(?) points to Henkei-not-Hasbro.

Clean lines points to produced-not-custom.

The bumblebee mold and not being a G2 character leans towards not-Botcon.

Has Japan every produced a non-true-G1 character? If it's Henkei/Gentei it's more likely to be Blue Bumblebee then Glyph but would they bother when they haven't even released Cliffjumper?

A Classics BB mold painted blue? Yes, oh god yes! I really hope this is a Hasbro release so we get it on store shelves in NA. Though I know the addition of chrome makes that highly unlikely. Still, I have my fingers crossed, I love that mold and I love that colour! Please Hasbro, bring it here, pretty please with sugar on top!

It is a really nice shade of blue, but other than that it looks kind of... plain. Not a lot of paint apps, which to me suggests it won't be a retail item (or that this is not the finished product). Could it be a Japanese DVD or magazine giveaway/contest prize of some sort?
