Actually I quite like it! Though I do get more of a Minerva vibe from it than a Red Alert vibe.

Still, hopefully this presages a deluxe-sized Universe Red Alert repainted from Sunstreaker/Sideswipe. (Okay, I'll admit, for a second when I saw the thread title, I thought that might actually be what this was about... though of course it would make no sense to see Red Alert BEFORE Sideswipe).

There's also an Onslaught and Starscream for the first wave of Universe Legends, both of which have larger Classics figures, so it could be a possibility.

I hope after the first few waves Universe Legends class gets new molds-- they can't keep repainting the Cybertron Legends molds forever...

Cool. I'm currently planning on getting this, but I'm still hoping for a repaint/retool of the Deluxe Sideswipe that we'll be getting. Wouldn't also mind a repaint/retool of Sunstreaker as Wheeljack, but it's unlikely to see an official release like that, and a new mold for him is more likely. Which means I might actually kitbash an extra Sunstreaker as Wheeljack.

If they don't retool and/or repaint Sunstreaker as Red Alert, I'd totally dig a Cybertron Hotshot repaint in this style. There's a lot of potential from some of the Classics Legends repaints and its too bad we'll probably never see most of them come to fruition in larger scales.

I think Hasbro even has its limits. Honestly, this is the FOURTH use of the Hot Shot Legends mold. I doubt the mold can even last through many more production runs, considering the toy's small size. Personally, I think the reason we're getting repaints at Voyager and Legends class sizes is that, as of last Botcon, it seemed like Ultra, Deluxe, and Robot Heroes were all that was planned for Universe. The Voyager and Legends size classes seem to have been thrown in at the figurative last minute, probably when it was realized just how much of a demand for TF product there was due to the success of the movie line. I can easily see the Voyager and Legends sizes being repaints for the first 2-3 waves, then becoming (mostly) new molds.

Here's hoping this means we'll be getting a Deluxe sized version in the near future!

If the universe legends keep the same price tag over here (which were the cheapest transformers figures in over 15 years) it's a buy for me then, if he keeps his cybertron price tag, I will pass.

yes they can, and most likely will, at least 20+ years from now, our kids will all want encore Cybertron figs, hahaha.

If they did brand new Legends molds that actually were made to be classic G1 characters, instead of Cybertron figures disguised as G1 guys - then I'd consider buying them.

So they opt to do a repaint from A/E/C rather that re-paint Classicverse 2.0 Prowl or even the yet to be seen Sideswipe?

I don't think this legends class means that we won't be getting a bigger update of Red Alert. Seeing as the other two new legends repaints that we know of so fare both have bigger Classics/Universe figures, I personally think it's likely that Red Alert will also have a larger counterpart. That and Red Alert is the obvious choice for a repaint/retool of the Sideswipe that we'll be getting, and easy repaints/retools is the major reason that Hasbro is deciding to update certain characters.

i wish he had a different colored face to his visor but i'll be getting him.

its not dreadful by any means, im sure kids might be happy with it if mum bought it but as an adult collector im somehow just not all that excited..............

I personally think Classics 'Bee would make a better Runamuk/Runabout. 2-pack perhaps?

and since when the LOCs are any indication of deluxes to come? do we have a deluxe or voyager perceptor or trypticon yet??

The Bumblebee mold just isn't threatening enough for Runamuk and Runabout I'm afraid.

It just looks so much like them, IMO. All it needs is a new head mold and some minor remolding and BAM instant classics Runabout/Runamuk.

He's not saying that it's NECESSARILY the case that a larger Red Alert is coming, just the existence of one at Legends size doesn't necessarily preclude a larger toy of the same character. See: Classics/Universe Legends Bumblebee, Jetfire, Starscream, and Onslaught.

I don't mind all these Legends repaints 'cause they're cheap enough.

I just hope they make a Trypticon. Even if it just repainted from Cybertron Scourge.

Doubtful, considering how Botcon '08 Grimlock was done in Trypticon colors. Though it's a neat idea, and I'd definitely buy a Trypticon recolor of Voyager Cyb. Scourge.

Stores around here never can keep the pegs fully stocked on these things, they get 'em sparingly (the movie two packs that is) then they're GONE.

I'm gonna completely disagree with that. The only reason they look at6 all similar is that they transform in a similar way to the original figs; bonnet as feet, roof as chest etc. But the vehicle mode of the Bumblebee mould is far too stumpy - the Battlechargers need a fierce racer alt-mode. I've always said the Energon Downshift mould would suit them well - it's actually versatile enough in my book to suit a ton of different characters with relatively little modding, and Runabout and Runamuck are high on that list.
