Universe Ironhide In Package, Back of Card and Bio ironhidezoom
Thanks again to tf08.net for the latest Universe news: the front and back of Universe Ironhide in package. We've seen the front of the card but check out the thumbmail to read his bio. It really does the old Autobot with the Texas drawl justice!

Opticron Primal:
Eh, the worn, badass war veteran. Love Ironhide.
Omegus Prime:
Far better than a bio, that's the first in-package pic we've got
hXcpunk23:
Thanks for posting this up. Ironhide has always been one of my favorites and this new Universe figure definitely does ol' Ironhide justice. Only downside is he needs some paint on his rims (that black on black looks cheap to me--same with Universe Prowl).
Ironhide2005:
Ironhide is awsome end of dissicusion PERIOD.

We've seen the front of the package, not the back with bio.
Detour:
I thought being the oldest of Autobots was reserved for Classics Kup?
Eric:
YEEHAW! Can't wait for Aaarn-hahd!
Opticron Primal:
Well weren't Ironhide and Kup created around the same time?
Tekkaman Blade:
I thought Kup was the oldest Autobot.
1987olds442:
I like this mold but I'm definitely going to have to paint those ugly light blue painted windows black.

Edit: I have to agree that the bio sounds a lot like they are talking about Kup or a mix between the two characters.
unicronsupreme:
It does sound a bit like Kup, but for those who know better what does it matter? The toy will always be G1 Ironhide for anyone who knows who it is.

I'm more worried about his face. I haven't seen a real clear picture of it and it looks like it might stink like Prowl's.
fosterlager:
I bet Kup's like a week younger and Ironhide NEVER lets him forget it.
Trailbreaker77:
Who does the art for the boxes? Is it possible to get just the art?
Megatronwp38:
kool, I will get it.
Ian7:
I loved 08 Bumblebee's gun because it could change from gun to sword (as you all know). I'm so glad they brought it back with Ironhide, this means i'm getting him!
Powersa:
Lack of paint details on the actual figure
Rodr-Evil:
Ironhide looks phenomenal.
Railguard:
He looks fantastic!!! I can't wait to get my hands on him!!!!
Thundershot:
"Never deactivated?" Depends on your definition of "deactivated"...
Let's see... Transformers: The Movie. Yeah....

Oh, wait, technically this is the G1 Marvel Comics continuity!

Oops! Shockwave deactivated him, along with every other Autobot (sans Ratchet) in issue 4. DOH! Starscream deactivated him again in issue 50 (along with every other non-*master/pretender). Ah, the Nucleon brought him back in the end... So he was deactivated a couple times, but never permanent in the comics. As permanent as death can be in comic books....

Chris
Charger:
I could not wait to see him when I first heard that he was going to be "BUILT".
Seeing Ironhide now has me feeling all nostalgic for the "1984".
I genuinely felt a warm feeling knowing my all time favorite has been crafted so nicely.
Paladin:
Pictures don't seem to be loading for me. Odd.
Human Beastbox:
I like how on the art on the back of the card, ol' Ironhide looks like his hemorrhoids are killing him.
aey103:
My preorder from BBTS can't get to me fast enough.
Thundercrackah:
This guy is SO bought, he's always been one of my faves.

I don't think his figure is the greatest looking one ever but it's a G1 themed Ironhide with a head and thus is mine!

Well at least he's not caught in dull surprise, hanging off tabs with empty stares into kids passing by the toy aisle.

Chris
Actually, this is a completely new canon Ironhide with no ties to any other previous storyline. So yea, his bio is accurate.

My feelings exactly. It's been a long time coming.
deltaprime:

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I saw the conspicuous "never deactivated" line as a subtle, long-delayed appeasement/apology to fans who were annoyed at his unceremonious movie death. Hasbro knows there are adult, old-skool fans collecting this line, so I think there are little winks and nods to them peppered throughout the bios.

Maybe it meant "one of the oldest"

Kup is up there too, but I figure they probably rolled off the same production line...

Well, the part of the bio that talks about having stories to tell from his experience is also totally stolen from Kup. Ironhide never did that, to my recollection....
BigRC83:
I do not like the black rims. Maybe this is a prototype.
Johnator:
Ironhide RULES! I can't wait to get him and the bio does him credit.

Well, maybe you never attended "Storytime with Ironhide" in kindergarden...

Nyah!
justinRODimus:
errrrggh, i thought they would fix his head so he wasn't looking down....
shroobmaster:
Eeh, never cared about the bios, but nice to see the boxart.

It's not a completely new canon of Ironhide. The official fiction for Classics (and by extension, Universe Classics Series) takes place 15 years after the end of the Marvel G1 #80.

My only disappointment is that he doesn't have his combat bay. Which also means Ratchet can't have his MARB.

Chris
alien:
i seem this is very nice classic ironhide!
defstar:
He looks very nice...though the light blue doesn't go well with the red imo...

Yeah, that definitely could use some paint. But they managed Sunstreaker's rims. What's up with that?

Yeah, the windows kind of suck. Though I almost want to paint him entirely black, just so in alt mode all those lines don't show up. But I want him to be G1 and not 2007 Movie colored, so that won't happen.

The sad thing, is I like the details in his chest in bot mode, so painting over all the windows (for consistency) would remove that. Maybe I'll leave the front windows, and just paint the back ones. Hmmm.
Optimus Sledge:
I don't think his chest is formed from his front windows.

It isn't. It's formed from the trunk.

I actually found it pretty darn clever just how it was done when I fiddled with him at TFCon - I like how when you slide the chest into place the Autobot symbol shows up behind it.

Interesting, I guess I should pay more attention

Hmm, I wonder how it would look for just his back windows to be unpainted. It would also hide the internal kibble on the front. Probably really best to use like a clear black to tint it. Hmmm...
General Tekno:
I still can't believe they're using that horrid Sideswipe photo though, sadly.

I mean... it's not well-transformed. They took a great looking figure and made it look bad.
newguy:
i wonder if he will have automorph tech in his legs like movie ironhide. Ironhide is the best.
rapid_fire:
there's a few things I don't care for, like the light blue windows, I don't think they should have painted those, but just left them transparent like the front and side windows. And the zig zag lines along the side of the vehicle mode are kind of an eyesore, but other then that, he's awesome, and will be staying in robot mode anyways.

I might still try to remove the blue off the windows, or paint them black or something.

I'll be taking the silver sharpie to the rims as well
fosterlager:
With all the questions about his transformation, I thought I'd repost the link to his instructions on hasbro's web site.

They wouldn't have been able to make the blue windows transparent.

Well, let me rephrase that - they could, but it would mean a LOT of red paint. And then, we'd have the same people whining about how Hasbro sucks because the paint doesn't match up to the plastic, or something like that.

And, on further observation... clear windows is NOT practical on that location. For one, those joints are THICK, and for two they're structurally important. If there were clear windows, it would jeopardize the plastic strength.

Finally, as for the blue windows... well, black WOULD look better in vehicle mode, sure - but then he wouldn't have that blue chest, would he? And we'd have people whining about that too.
