Universe (Classic 2.0) Ultra-Class Silverbolt Revealed at Australian Toy Fair TransformersClassics20Silverbo
Ozformers have posted some sneak peak pictures from the Australian Toy Fair, which is taking place this weekend in Melbourne. Among the figures on display, which were not previously announced or official, are Universe (Classics 2.0) Silverbolt, Animated Rollout Command Optimus Prime, and Marvel Transformers Crossover figures Wolverine, Venom, Spiderman, Human Torch, and Hulk Grey. Ozformers should have more pictures and information later in the day. Meanwhile, you can also see the sneak peak pictures by clicking the Ozformers links above or by clicking on the image to the left.

"Universe" is just Hasbro's name for everything that isn't the main line(which will be animated soon).

It includes stuff like Classics 2.0 and Robot Heroes.

Bout time G1 Silverbolt got some love.
I'm glad he's getting a classics fig.
Don't care about the lack of combining whatsoever. Thought the same about Onslaught.
grock35:
I guess i'll be spending a lot more that I thought, since hasbro decided to throw another great ultra into the mix...and the marvel crossover looks neat may pick up a few
grock35:
hey guys even though he's an Ultra don't you think over time we could get the rest of his limbs and have him still be a combiner?

If there are connectors built-in, sure. The real toy will most likely be at Botcon. I'll make it a point to look for any hints of combining ability. And I'll ask, if no one else does first.

BF:
There was. This next Universe line is going to have Classics-type stuff as well as other non-mainline, Universe-type stuff. It's a catchall.

We already saw some semi-random recolors of C-Soundwave and Quickmix as Blaster and a new character.

Of course, the first Classics line wasn't so different, if you remember the Legends recolors and new-mold minicons...

Why bother? There are plenty of other figures that don't combine, why not do them and quit teasing us with these gimped guys? It's like getting the best slice of pie in the world, but getting punched in the teeth before you can eat it.
MMM:
At least there's some precedent for both of them. Silverbolt was a singleton in EARTHFORCE, and Onslaught may have been on his own before he was deactivated and placed in personality-storage.

I think I like Silverbolt better as a bomber. It was annoying to have a passenger jet leading fighters, and he always seemed undergunned, when he got weapons at all (ISTR one nondescript raygun from somewhere on the bottom of his plane mode). This altmode does look a little bland in the photo, compared with, say, Energon Storm Jet and Universe King Atlas.

These Marvel Xovers, I suspect, will not be the big hit that the SWTFs have been. There just aren't vehicles which are strongly associated with a lot of these characters, so the appeal will have to rest on the robot-mode resemblance, which may not be strong enough. They do look cool, though.

Nope. Superion was definitely in Earthforce too.

Precedent or not, my G1 version will look him in the eye, combine with the others, and stomp him out for being a wannabe.
Fosterlager:
That is, if G1 Superion is even as tall as this new Silverbolt.
Shin Densetsu:
Silverbolt looks like a homage to his original alt mode(Concorde), combining aspects of the XB-70 valkyrie and concept art for high speed stratobombers/space shuttles. Pretty much a modernized version of him. One of my favorite characters so I will be sure to pick the toy up!

Good God those Classics in the photos are mistransformed to hell. These make the bad catalog photos look good.
WhiteMocha:
Wow, that's an unexpected (and welcome) surprise! It's nice to see more new Universe molds coming along. Silverbolt looks pleasantly G1-esque from the box art... I look forward to seeing the robot mode.

As for the lack of combining, it doesn't really bother me. Energon Superion already scratches the "Aerialbot Combiner" itch for me. I'd rather the focus simply be on making Silverbolt here an excellent stand-alone figure (like Onslaught).

EDIT: Someone may have already mentioned this (didn't read the whole thread) but the Wolverine-bot, repainted with a new head, would make a pretty great Brawn. Which is ironic, since the last Brawn homage (Cybertron Overhaul) was sort of a Wolverine homage too. What the heck is the weird thread entwining those two fictional characters together?

The G1 version won't even be ABLE to look him in the eye until he's combined.
Maximus_Prime:
i love that Silverbolt and all but when i look at that Wolverine Crossover figure I only think about one thing, a custom Harvey Birdman figure!

The guys getting the pictures were able to play with the loose toys,
So they probably were moving stuff around. Like Sunstreaker in sideswipe mode.
Scourge_151:
Silver bolt is WICKED!
From my geeky aircraft knowledge I think he's an amalgam of a few different jets/concept jets, I can see some of the:

XB-70 Valkyrie

FB-22 Strike Raptor

Okay. I probably missed that...I haven't read the whole thing, I guess. I have the mini-TPB but I think they left a piece out. SB was by himself for a while, though, and was one of the "Magnificent Six" without the other Aerialbots.

The shoulders look like they can be rotated further up.

Doubt they handled Powerglide, look at him! Griffin, were you able to take pics of the back of Silverbolt's box?
benzo:
here's a better picture of the Silverbolt box.

shroobmaster:
Hey guys! How about pics of Silverbolt's box side huh?
Bluestreak:
Silverbolt even has the little wings on his shoulders. Awesome.
Sso02V:
Looks more like Blaster's minicon buddy is called "Blockrock", not Blackrock.
REDLINE:
Silverbolt = me very happy
Skywave:
Wow that Silverbolt look very nice. I never heard of him being in classic before this topic though Oh well, yet more toys to buy ...
Rodimus Primal:
Looks awesome. The only thing I'm disapointed about the Classics2.0/Universe line is the fact that they aren't combiners. I mean how difficult is it to make them combiners? Sure we love the characters but if they were combiners we're more inclined to buy them all.

off the top of my head, I'd say...very difficult. At this scale, they'd need to be fully-articulated robots, and limbs, as well as still transforming in order to be anything but a giant, unappealing brick.
griffin-of-oz:
We tried to take photos of the back of packaged figures, but most were glued to the wall (like Silverbolt) or shelf, so we couldn't move them to even see other sides. The Silverbolt box was way up the top, so it was difficult enough getting a front-on pic. But the co-sells didn't show any unknown figures, while the rest of the box was a rough mock-up anyway.
Paradigm-Shift Prime:
Awesome! Can't wait to see pics of the real figure. I hope Ultras are significantly larger than voyagers though and not just a way to get more $.
Shin Densetsu:
That is one hell of an upgrade for Silverbolt now that I think about it. He went from high speed passenger plane, to stratobomber!
Larry Twichell:
G1 Silverbolt was awesome, and this toy looks even better, I am a huge fan of the Aerealbots (sp?) and superion. I would be very excited about a new Superion super-bot!
Eric:
Oh shit. Silverbolt is G1-tastic! And the Marvel TFs...I'm sold. Just sold right here. I'm gonna lose money this year, but not to Animated!
Darth Rodimus:
i wonder if Universe Ironhide will be at botcon?

It would be awesome if a prototype for him and Silverbolt were displayed at Botcon. That way we get a good look at them, and confirmation that we'll be getting an Ironhide in the line.
Orion P:
niceee~ another added to my need list
Runamuck:
Silverbolt is getting bought....no matter the cost.

Yeah, I had to say it.
Jarodimus:
Silverbolt looks very promising! Combiners are cool, but I really don't need him to be one.

Actually, $24.99 has been Hasbro's MSRP all along, through the end of Cybertron.

See here: http://www.hasbro.com/playrewards/de...d_id=496&pg=27

I've never understood why TRU and W*M charge more. W*M, especially -- it was "only" $26.47, but still. I've always tried to get my Ultras from Target, Meijer, or HTS.

Don't know if Ultras will still be $25 for Universe, though.
Runamuck:
I've always seen Ultras priced at $29.99....at all stores. Hmm..

Universe Silverbolt will just LOOK at G1 Silverbolt funny and the original toy's hip hinges will break.

That's gotta be one of the most badly-designed G1 toys in the line - you put a stress point (a weak one at that) directly above an area that requires you to twist the appendage.
Autovolt 127:
I'd still pick the Energon StormJet over this.

I think we'll get Universe Superion and Brutcius.
Railguard:
This jet looks freaking awsome!!!! I can't wait to but these things!!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHHH release these damn things already!!!

Would be even better if they gave him an alt-mode that looked like a B1 Lancer. Not exactly the best homage for Cyclonus, but it definetly works for him, imo.
REDLINE:
there are a ton of characters I'd rather see before Cyclonus.
Verolina:
I'd love to see them remake all the 5 member combiners in this line and actually make them combine.

Then they can release 4 members in universe and put the 5th members in a botcon set

Fans would gather on the streets with torches and pitchforks

Its Onslaught.

Silverbolt looks to have potential, though it's a red & white pointy jet to follow the red & white non-pointy jet that is Powerglide. I think Silverbolt may work a little better as a larger size toy though.
Agreed. Very strange...

Though for some reason Autobots jets have mostly ALWAYS been variations of red + white. Maybe it's the official colours of their air force?

Jetfire
Powerglide
Silverbolt
Fireflight
Slingshot
Scattershot
Strafe

heck, even SkyLynx, and arguably Swoop (toy colours, silver and red)...

As for the Marvel TFs... I kind of like them. The colours are the weakest part of them, and that's just the nature of garish superhero costumes. I'll probably buy a bunch and behead them and turn them into Transformers bashes.

Silverbolt!! SWEET! I can't wait for bot mode pics. Maybe they'll make the rest of the Aerialbots as well.. we need an updated G1 combiner BAD. I'd rather it be Menasor, but Superion would be my 2nd choice.

It bothers me that the Stunticons haven't been released again properly. I hope Classics 2.0/Universe includes them! They would sell out like mad.
