This is why the bootleg and KO market is so lucrative. Hasbro sets themselves up for failure in the G1 market by reissuing the same mold repeatedly and calling it a new exclusive. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
Starscream, Soundwave, even the upcoming Perceptor and Insecticons. These aren't new, they're just in different boxes. How about Hasbro stops borrowing molds from Takara and, *gasp*, go out on a limb to produce new G1 molds?
Oh wait, that makes too much sense. I forgot. Nevermind, just go ahead and put the same toy out with five, six, or seven different versions...sorry, exclusives.

Nice Box Art, would go well with my Universe figures. If anything sells me on this it is the packaging. I hope they match the character art on the side with other universe releases. I have the G1, Encore and Hasbro reissue. I like this packaging the best with the 25th Ann. badge. I thought this was the single deck release? I hope it is no more than $29.99.

Well, the packaging COULD just be a prototype error. If it's the one-cassette Encore version, count me in. Because that one, the single cassette mold with the improved mechanism of the Encore, has never been released over here. Otherwise...I've still got my TRU Reissue version to tide me over...
Ironically, the KO versions of Ratbat, Buzzsaw, Laserbeak, and the assorted encore "mission" characters are much better quality than the official re-releases....and a fraction of the cost. At least mine were/are anyways.

TFC, TRU, Encore and SDCC releases all in the space of five/six years and there are still people complaining that it's too hard to get a hold of.
The toy isn't that great, and it wasn't that great in 1984. It's a robot that turns into a box, and the toy means little in a world where the
G1 cartoon is at most a footnote to the majority of Hasbro's Transfomer buyers and cassette players are near obsolete.

I was responding to the posters comment about the large chest version possibly holding 4 tapes. Not whether the SDCC will be the Soundblaster or original Soundwave mold. And just to play devil's advocate, mock-ups can and do change. Personally, I'll just wait until SDCC for definitive confirmation.

Hasbro also said before Botcon it was going to be the single tape version.

Blah. As I do enjoy the original version of this character cause no other version has done him respect I am dissapointed that they still haven't retooled this original version for mass retail. If that were done, it would sell like crazy.
